Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will not play in the FIFA Club World Cup despite receiving multiple offers from participating teams.
The Portugal captain’s current contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, who failed to qualify for the Club World Cup, runs out at the end of June.
And after FIFA introduced a transfer window at the start of this month, speculation grew over Ronaldo’s potential involvement in the tournament, which starts on June 15.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino fuelled these rumours in May when he told YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed that "Ronaldo might play" and that there were "discussions with some clubs".
However, speaking ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League final against Spain on Sunday, the 40-year-old confirmed he will not be involved.
Ronaldo said: "I will not be at the Club World Cup. Some teams reached out to me. Some made sense and others did not, but you can't try and do everything. You can't catch every ball."

It comes after Ronaldo suggested he had played his last game for Al-Nassr following their final league match of the season, posting on social media: "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."
However, multiple reports suggest Al-Nassr are confident of extending the 40-year-old’s contract with the Saudi Pro League side.
Following Ronaldo's social media post, the club's sporting director and Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro said: "We are still in negotiations with Cristiano. Hopefully we can find a solution on a renewal."
Speaking on Saturday, Ronaldo told reporters that the decision on his future was "almost final".

Ronaldo signed for Al-Nassr in January 2023 after his contract with Manchester United was terminated two months earlier, to mark the end of his second spell at Old Trafford.
The former Real Madrid man has scored 99 goals in his 111 appearances with Al-Nassr, and bagged 25 goals in 30 league appearances this season, as his side finished third in the division.
Portugal reached Sunday’s final thanks to Ronaldo’s winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Germany on Wednesday, the 137th international goal of his career.
