Arsenal push for Sesko deal

Arsenal are hoping to complete a deal worth £60 million for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
The Mirror believes Arsenal have recently held talks over the chance of signing the 22-year-old forward.
The paper reports: "Arsenal have held further discussions over a £60m move for Benjamin Sesko. And RB Leipzig are ready to sell the 22-year-old Slovenia striker if they get the right offer this summer.
"Sesko is on Arsenal's shortlist and they have sounded out his representatives and RB Leipzig about a deal with the German club ready to talk business if they can reach agreement. Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta also has Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres on the shortlist while Newcastle's Alexander Isak looks impossible with the Toon Army refusing to sell.
"Leipzig are planning to sell both Sesko and Dutch attacking midfielder Xavi Simons to rebalance the books and fund a needed rebuild this summer, after missing out on European qualification during a chaotic 2024-25 campaign."

Arsenal weigh up Kepa switch

Arsenal have been linked with a bargain move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season on loan with Bournemouth.
The north London side want the Spaniard to be David Raya’s back-up, with Chelsea looking to make room for Mike Maignan.
The Sun claims: "Arsenal are targeting Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to fill their No. 2 void.
"The Gunners are on red alert with the Blues shot-stopper, 30 – who cost a record-breaking £72m back in 2018 – available with a release clause of just £5m this summer.
"Kepa has just 12 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, having spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
"It is understood Chelsea are happy to get Kepa off the books, and are in talks with AC Milan to sign 29-year-old Frenchman Mike Maignan, valued at around £21m."

Tottenham yet to make move for Frank

Thomas Frank is the current favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou after the Australian was sacked by Tottenham.
The Athletic reports that the Londoners have yet to make contact for the Brentford manager, but expects things to move quickly next week.
The website writes: "A decision on a replacement is anticipated next week with Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach, the leading contender. There is yet to be contact made with the west London club.
"Though victorious in Europe, Postecoglou saw his side exit both domestic cup competitions in the same week after a 4-0 defeat against Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on February 6 and a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round three days later. Spurs required extra time to progress past National League side Tamworth in the FA Cup third round in January."

Newcastle struggling to do summer business

The Telegraph reports that Newcastle hope to sign several players this summer but are finding it hard to balance the books.
Antoine Semenyo, Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike are all on the shortlist but are currently seen as too expensive.
The paper explains: "Newcastle are targeting a goalkeeper – Burnley’s James Trafford is a long-standing priority – as well as a centre-back, a right-sided forward and a striker to offer support and competition to [Alexander] Isak. Depending on player sales, another midfielder could arrive, especially as Sean Longstaff is expected to depart.
"On the right side of attack, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga have been discussed extensively, but as things stand the asking prices are too high for meaningful progress to be made. That could change swiftly but there is only frustration at the moment.
"Brighton forward Joao Pedro is another player who has been repeatedly scouted and is seen as a strong potential signing, but there are also concerns about the asking price and the player’s willingness to compete with Isak for a central role.
"Pedro’s versatility and his ability to play across the front three is one of the main attractions, but a fee of up to £70 million has been circulated and that would blow a huge chunk of Newcastle’s budget on one player. It has caused pause for thought internally. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike has been tracked for years but the £80 million asking price is putting Newcastle off for now."
