LASK v Celtic - Champions League play-off, second leg result as the hosts produce remarkable recovery to dump Scottish champions into Europa League

Celtic looked certain to reach the Champions League group stage after taking a 3-0 first-leg lead, and even more so when Callum McGregor extended the aggregate lead, but ended up conceding five goals to lose out to LASK in extra time.

LASK put on a fantastic display, and could have scored more, but Bhoys fans will wonder how they contrived to be beaten from a seemingly unassailable position.

After McGregor's goal was deflected in, LASK were gifted a lifeline when Benjamin Nygren's careless backpass was turned home gleefully by Moses Usor.

Robert Ljubicic scored the first of three long-range goals with a fine left-footed low drive early in the second half, and this was added to by a superb curling Dennis Adeniran effort just before the hour mark.

Despite their poor performance, it looked like Celtic would hold on until Florian Flecker scored from close range after Viljami Sinisalo made a fine save from Alemao's header.

In injury time, it was mostly one-way traffic, and Adeniran scored another fine long-range effort to ultimately send the Austrians into the Champions League group stage. The hosts could have gone further ahead, and Adeniran could have notched a hat-trick, but his penalty was superbly stopped by Sinisalo.

Celtic will now play in the Europa League, while LASK will be in tomorrow's Champions League draw.

From being four goals clear on aggregate in the first half, Celtic conceded five goals to go out of the competition.

Freckleton ran more than half the length of the field before putting in a low cross which his fellow sub failed to turn home at the back post.

It was after Lang dribbled the ball 50 yards into the Celtic box and the ball was half-cleared. The strike was well off target though.

LASK break quickly and Hatate brings down Danek in the penalty area.

But LASK clear the danger.

For the second time he has scored from long range. This time, McCowan lost the ball just outside his own area and the striker turned and drove a low effort inside Sinisalo's right hand post. The keeper might have done better.

But Scales is there to clear the header into the six-yard box.

He gets up to play on - and he has to, as Celtic have no more substitutions.

Usor also leaves the field - you'd think Celtic will be relieved at that. He is replaced by Dibango.

Freckleton and Danek come on for Horvath and Tornich.

He then tries to square to McCowan but the ball is put behind for a goal kick.

After Andrade's shot is deflected high in the air, the LASK leaps just as high but cannot steer his effort on target.

Usor was lurking behind him as Bello put a ball across the six-yard box.

And he plays a low ball towards Hogh but Mbuyamba is there first to clear.
