Marcus Rashford eager to ‘add to Barcelona history’ by winning ‘not only the Champions League, but everything’

Marcus Rashford is confident Barcelona can "win all the trophies we are competing for" during his season-long loan at the Catalan side. Barcelona won the domestic treble last term but were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the semi-final stage. Rashford believes they can return to European glory once more, and the 27-year-old winger is hungry to play a key role in that success.

Marcus Rashford is hoping to "add to the history" of Barcelona this season, in a team he believes is strong enough to "win all the trophies we are competing for".
The 27-year-old has joined the Spanish giants on a season-long loan from Manchester United, having spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Aston Villa.
He arrives at a club riding high off the back of a domestic treble, with Barcelona’s only disappointment last season being their semi-final exit in the UEFA Champions League
The Englishman is confident the Catalan side can dominate domestically once again, while also going all the way in Europe for the first time in 11 years.
When asked whether Barcelona can return to Champions League glory this season, Rashford was bullish in his response.
"Yes, for sure," he told Spanish outlet SPORT. "Not only the Champions League, but everything.
"They had such a good season last year. So now it's about forgetting last year, trying to recreate and even improve."

The winger added: "They have the principles, otherwise you don’t win three trophies last season. I’m sure about this.
"The mentality and motivation is very high, so I don't see why we can’t win all the trophies we are competing for.
"For me, the team is ready to win and it’s about just helping the team in whichever way I can.
"The season is a long season and there’s a lot of football to be played. Football is very unpredictable, so we’re going to have to adapt throughout the season.
"But I think the staff and the players have a strong mentality, so I think whatever challenges we’re going to face, we’ll be in a position to give our best to win."

Rashford, whose loan includes a £30 million option to buy clause, is also hungry for a successful campaign on an individual level, having scored just 13 Premier League goals in his last two years in English football.
There is a particular emphasis on this season with the FIFA World Cup taking place next summer and England’s left-wing spot still undecided.
Most expect that he is unlikely to be in Hansi Flick’s first-choice attack from the off, with current wingers Raphinha and Lamine Yamal enjoying superb campaigns last time around, and Robert Lewandowski still producing impressive numbers through the middle.
Nevertheless, Rashford is hopeful of a fruitful season and believes the happiness he has felt on the pitch since arriving in Catalonia and the winning culture of the club will go hand-in-hand to help him deliver his best form.
On whether he can leave a mark at Barcelona, Rashford replied: "For sure. But I also think at such a historic club, everybody only plays a small role in the history of the club.
"It would be great for me if I can add to this history, but it is a loan at the minute. I have to take it day-by-day, so I have to do my best and enjoy myself.
"From the early stages, I feel comfortable. On the pitch, of course we will start to learn more about each other’s games, but from a starting point it’s very good.
"The more the games come, the more I'll learn. Barca is the easiest place to learn and enjoy a football match."
He added: "I don’t know if you’ve seen me play over the years, but I like do a lot of different things on the pitch and to enjoy the game of football, but always my main reason to play football is to win.
"But for me to win consistently I need to be happy, because this is how I play my best football."
Rashford made his competitive debut for Barcelona on Saturday, coming on as a substitute as the club kicked off their La Liga title defence with a 3-0 win away at Mallorca.
He made four appearances in pre-season, coming off the bench on three occasions before starting against Como in the final match before the league opener.
Describing his La Liga debut, Rashford said: "It was good, it was a new experience, but the more I play in this league, the better I'll be.
"It was definitely a new experience but it was also enjoyable. It was good to start the season with a win."
