Real Madrid 1-0 Juventus result - Jude Bellingham scores first goal of season as 15-time UEFA Champions League winners continue perfect start

Jude Bellingham scored his first goal of the season as Real Madrid extended their perfect start to the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win over Juventus at the Bernabeu.

After defeating Olympique Marseille (2-1) and Kairat (5-0) in their opening two group matches, it was England midfielder Bellingham who made the difference for the 15-time winners on Wednesday as he converted a rebound on 57 minutes after Vinicius Junior's fine effort had come back off a post.

The result was a merited outcome and the ideal boost for Xabi Alonso's side before they host fierce La Liga rivals Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season on Sunday afternoon.

In truth, they could have won by a greater margin with the inspired visiting goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio making excellent stops to deny Kylian Mbappe and Brahim Diaz, who also saw Federico Gatti clear an effort off the line in a frantic second half.

But Igor Tudor's Juve, who have not won in seven matches. also had their moments and should have taken the lead early in the second period with Thibaut Courtois showing his alertness to deny a Dusan Vlahovic finish as he raced clear on goal.

Juve are 25th in the 38-team table, and will hope to find a victory when they return to domestic action in their visit to Lazio in Serie A on Sunday evening.

Real Madrid almost killed if off with a frantic late break, but it matters little in the end. It ends 1-0 to the 15-time winners. Which they deserve for a strong second-half showing at the Bernabeu. They stay perfect in this Champions League campaign with three wins from three.

That is a thumping hit with his left foot, but Courtois is alive to the danger as he punches clear the effort with both hands. A fine piece of play, but the Real Madrid goalkeeper was equal to it.

Juve have around two minutes of added time to save it. All the white shirts suddenly back in their own half.

Mbappe darts a swerving shot from distance at the Juve goal after being set up by Bellingham, but comfortable enough take for the excellent Di Gregorio in the visiting goal.

Has been an exacting and sweaty night for all concerned inside the Bernabeu with Gonzalo García replacing Raúl Asencio for Real Madrid and Filip Kostic on for Andrea Cambiaso. Going to be five added minutes.

The home side getting themselves into all sorts of trouble, but Loïs Openda's shot from the David set-up pass is brilliantly blocked by the recovery speed of Asencio. Looks like a certain equaliser prevented.

"Another disappointing night for that man there Igor Tudor. Two draws and a loss isn't great for them. Seems a long time ago when they were winning seven (Italian) titles on the trot."

Fran García replaces Vinícius Júnior with Franco Mastantuono on for Brahim Díaz.

Up to 26 attempts on goal now for Real Madrid. Which is pretty impressive in any outing, but only one goal to show leaves that element of doubt in the air at any level. Juve hanging tough as they chase a draw. Kalulu slipping at wrong moment as he tried to play in David.

Great recovery pace to ensure Juve can't cause any havoc. Corner is clasped by Courtois before Conceição races back to win the ball from Vinicius Jr, who is appealing in vain for a last-man late challenge. All is deemed fair.

Juve have 13 minutes and stoppages to find a way back to the light.

Jonathan David replaces Dusan Vlahovic, Manuel Locatelli on for Teun Koopmeiners and Loïs Openda takes over from Kenan Yildiz. Fresh legs might offer Juve a way back. Or at least that is the hope for Tudor.

Arda Guler departs the scene for the home side to be replaced by Eduardo Camavinga for Madrid.

He clearly feels there are still minerals to be mined from this match. And he might well be right. Could easily have struck the opener before Bellingham pounced. Change is coming from Real Madrid here too.

Arda Guler with another very fine delivery from the set-piece. Met on the volley by Valverde, but Gatti does well to get his frame in the way. That was certainly travelling.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper is down to make the save from Kenan Yildiz before Di Gregorio does likewise at the other end to deny Mbappe. Game warming up nicely in a humid evening in Madrid.
