Liverpool 1-4 PSV result – Couhaib Driouech, Guus Til and Ivan Perisic seal surprise win for visitors as pressure mounts on Arne Slot

Liverpool’s woes continued as PSV secured a shock 4-1 win at Anfield to pile pressure on Reds boss Arne Slot.

The visitors stunned the home crowd after six minutes when Ivan Perisic converted a penalty after Virgil van Dijk bizarrely punched a corner clear.

Liverpool slowly found another gear and levelled 10 minutes later when Dominik Szoboszlai rolled in a rebound following a shot from Cody Gakpo.

The Dutch side then silenced Anfield when Guus Til finished off a slick counter-attack on 56 minutes before substitute Couhaib Driouech clinched a famous victory with a late double.

The result means Liverpool drop to 13th in the League Phase standings. PSV are one point further back in 15th.

Next up, Liverpool visit West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday with Slot and co. desperate to halt a crisis that has seen them lose nine of their last 12 matches.

Speaking on TNT Sports from Anfield, the Reds legend reacts to the suggestion the recent run of form is not acceptable.

"No. it's not. They are conceding so many goals They are wide open in transition. They look very vulnerable and unstable as soon as the ball turns over.

"Anfield tells a story. The seats are empty with 10 minutes to go, as soon as the third went in and the game was over.

"PSV were excellent by the way. Very comfortable, came here and enjoyed themselves, grew into the game. They thoroughly deserved their victory but Liverpool’s problems become deeper and the pressure intensifies even more. And there needs to be a lot of soul searching tonight, that’s for sure."
