HE GETS IT ALL WRONG
Here’s TNT Sports pundit Steve McManaman on Sake’s miss: "He gets everything wrong. He doesn’t go down the centre of the goal, he goes down Courtois’ side. It was a huge moment, but to be honest, Madrid haven’t responded at all.
"The direction of the game is only going one way at the moment. Arsenal have been very, very comfortable."

HALF-TIME RECAP
A frantic opening 20 minutes or so saw Saka miss a penalty that was awarded after the referee consulted with the pitchside monitor - Merino having been tugged down by Asencio.
Saka, though, got his attempted chip all wrong, and Courtois made the save.
Then, Madrid thought they had a penalty of their own when Mbappe went down following a tussle with Rice. After a long wait for VAR to check it over, and then the referee to go to the screen, the spot-kick was overturned however.
But it's not like Madrid have done too much to test Arsenal. Raya has not had a save to make, and Los Blancos have only had six attempts, with Vinicius, Bellingham and Mbappe struggling to make an impact. Ancelotti's side need a minor miracle after the break.

HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ARSENAL (0-3 ON AGGREGATE)
It's all square at the break, but the Gunners are nearly there! They are 3-0 up on aggregate with just one half of football left to play in this tie.

STOP-START
Rudiger is penalised for a foul on Timber, much to the frustration of the Madrid fans. We are heading towards half-time with Arsenal 3-0 up in the tie and just 45 minutes from the Champions League semi-finals!
"They've set up right, they've nullified all the attacks and dealt what's been thrown at them," TNT Sports' Rio Ferdinand says of Arsenal.

NO WAY THROUGH
This has been an excellent performance so far from the Gunners. After the blow of Saka's penalty miss, Arteta's team have defended resolutely and have managed to offer some threat going forward, too. We have a couple of minutes to go until extra time, but Madrid look like they're running short on ideas. Vazquez has just hooked in a cross, which Raya collected with ease.

SEVEN MINUTES
That has gone up on the fourth official's board, so Arsenal have a bit longer to hold on to get to half-time. However, so far, they really have kept Madrid's star-studded attack to very little of note.

PRESSURE RELIEVED
Madrid pile the crosses in, but Arsenal's defence hold their own. Eventually, it's worked out to Saka, who does brilliantly to win a free-kick.
There was a bit of tugging and pulling from Madrid's latest corner, but this time, there is nothing doing for the referee.

INTO THE AREA
Vazquez loops in a left-footed cross form the left, which takes a deflection off a defender and floats out over the outstretched foot of Rudiger.
Madrid just building up some momentum now as we head towards half-time.

BOOKING FOR RAYA
Time-wasting after 35 minutes...? Raya goes into the book for delaying the restart from a goal-kick.

CATCH A BREATH?
Finally, after a frantic opening half-hour, the pace has just eased off a touch.
It remains all square at 0-0, but 3-0 to Arsenal on aggregate.

VAR DRAMA

NO PENALTY!
Arsenal get a reprieve! After a long, long check, the penalty has been wiped off, as has the booking for Rice. The referee and VAR have seemingly deemed that Mbappe went down too easily. Finally, play will go on.

Rice, for his part, has been booked - at least for the time being. That could be overturned if the penalty is overturned, though. Let's see...

PENALTY TO MADRID
Arsenal are furious! The referee has pointed to the spot after Mbappe goes down, claiming to have been held by Rice. It looked soft, but now VAR will check it. What a crazy start!
