SEVENTH HEAVEN AS ARSENAL THRASH PSV TO PUT ONE FOOT IN QUARTERS
Arsenal became the first team in UEFA Champions League history to net seven goals in the away leg of a knockout game in Europe's top competition, beating PSV Eindhoven 7-1 at the Philips Stadion.
Mikel Arteta's depleted side came into the match knowing that a good result would stand them in good stead for the return leg at Emirates Stadium next week, but they went above and beyond in the Netherlands, tallying a magnificent septet of strikes to practically guarantee their place in the last eight.
They were given an early scare when Ismael Saibari rattled the crossbar 17 minutes in, but at the other end, Jurrien Timber popped up at the far post to nod home the opener a minute later, before Ethan Nwnaeri added a quickfire second just three minutes later when he turned in Myles Lewis-Skelly's fizzed delivery.
Lewis-Skelly was fortunate to avoid a second yellow after he was cautioned for a pull on Luuk de Jong, before he lunged into a challenge on Richard Ledezma, and he was withdrawn in the first half by Arteta, replaced by Riccardo Calafiori as a precaution.
Mikel Merino profited from some shambolic PSV defending to stroke home a third just after the half-hour, but Noa Lang's penalty gave the hosts a glimmer of hope after Thomas Partey had his hands on de Jong's neck at a corner.
Arsenal exploded out of the blocks after the interval, with captain Martin Odegaard sweeping in a fourth with the second period just a minute old, and Leandro Trossard helped himself to number five just one minute later as the home supporters began to voice their dissatisfaction.
That would only spur The Gunners on, as they pushed harder onto their hosts' throats, and Odegaard notched a sixth on 73 minutes, via the glove of Walter Benitez.
Calafiori rounded off the rout with five minutes to play, latching onto a deft outside-of-the-boot through pass from Odegaard to slot home and steer Arsenal safely into the quarter-finals.

GOAL! PSV 1-7 ARSENAL (CALAFIORI)
It's seventh heaven, and Calafiori, the left-back, gets in on the act - off the right wing to be exact! Somehow the Italian finds himself on the right side of the field, and runs onto a gorgeous Odegaard through ball with the outside of his foot. Calafiori guides it beyond the onrushing Benitez for a magnificent seven!

CLOSE!
Zinchenko wants to get his name on the scoreboard as he controls a nice dinked pass from Tierney, before flashing a shot across goal.
He's claiming a corner, alleging that Benitez got a touch, and the replay proves the Ukrainian right.

ZINCHENKO IN MIDFIELD
For those that forgot, Riccardo Calafiori is at left-back, having come on for the booked and in-danger Myles Lewis-Skelly in the first half. That therefore has Zinchenko in central midfield, alongside Rice and Odegaard.

TACTICAL ALTERATIONS
As such, that means that Trossard is now more of a false nine for Arsenal, with Sterling on the right and Kieran Tierney as more of a defensive left winger.

GOAL! PSV 1-6 ARSENAL (ODEGAARD)
It is six, and Odegaard has his second of the evening. It's been quite emphatic from the Gunners here, and the Norwegian's strike has plenty of the home supporters heading for the exits. No-one closes down the Arsenal skipper as he cuts inside off the right, with the space opening up ahead of him, and his shot squirms beyond Benitez, who gets a hand on it but can't keep it out.

NO GOAL!
Trossard thinks he's made it six as Til makes an error, and the ball ricochets for the Belgian, who turns Benitez inside out and slots home, but the flag is up.

IN PIECES
Luuk de Jong looks as if he's almost crying on the PSV bench. The Dutchman certainly wasn't happy with being substituted.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Peter Bosz is making a double change, with Johan Bakayoko and Rick Karsdorp entering the fray for the hosts. It begs the question, why didn't either of them start?
They replace de Jong and Ledezma.

PSV NOT GIVING UP
The hosts are still probing, and Saibari and Til are looking to link up in midfield. It doesn't come off, though, and Arsenal can progress through the thirds.

Perisic tries to deliver an inswinger from the right, but it just evades Lang, who is tussling with Timber at the far post.

GOOD SAVE
Nwaneri travels some way with the ball and forces Benitez into a strong save at the near post with an effort from the angle.
