INSPIRED PSG BEAT LIVERPOOL ON PENALTIES TO REACH UCL QUARTERS
Gianluigi Donnarumma was the penalty shoot-out hero for Paris Saint-Germain as they triumphed against Liverpool at Anfield to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
An end-to-end encounter ended 1-0 after regulation time thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s first-half goal, when he tapped home from close range after Ibrahima Konate’s attempt to stop a cross from reaching the Frenchman resulted in an open goal for the forward.
Both teams will have been frustrated by a number of missed opportunities throughout the 90 minutes to move the tie beyond its 1-1 aggregate deadlock, as opportunities came and went, with both goalkeepers making a string of decent saves.
But an initially open game became increasingly tense as play went into extra time, and penalties seemed increasingly likely as the clock ticked towards 120 minutes.
Mohammed Salah was the only Liverpool player to score in the shoot-out, as the towering Donnarumma made consecutive saves to deny Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones.
And all four PSG takers converted from the spot, with youngster Desire Doue scoring the fourth and final spot-kick to seal the win.

The final whistle goes and penalties will decide which of these teams reaches the Champions League quarter-finals.

CORNER TO PSG
Mendes attempts a shot from range and PSG win a corner. That also gives the visitors time to bring on Ramos for Neves, with penalties in mind. The visitors take the corner short and a chance never comes.

DOUÉ SHOOTS WIDE
The lively Doué cuts infield and looks for the bottom corner, but his shot doesn’t have enough whip on it and Alisson watches it all the way wide.

CHANGE FOR LIVERPOOL
Konate hobbles from the field, potentially with a touch of cramp (hopefully that’s all it is). Endo comes on in his place.
