GUIRASSY HAT-TRICK NOT ENOUGH AS BARCA REACH SEMIS
Barcelona are through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, but not after surviving an almighty scare away at Borussia Dortmund, slipping to a 3-1 defeat but progressing 5-3 on aggregate.
The Spanish visitors travelled to Germany with the plan of staying on the front foot and looking for goals to seal the tie, but their high-line and aggressive approach was anticipated by Dortmund, who created a host of chances on the night as they threw everything at pulling off the unlikeliest of comebacks from 4-0 down.
The impressive Serhou Guirassy was the main man on the night, scoring a hat-trick for a rampant Dortmund and opening the scoring with a Panenka penalty in the 11th minute, having already failed to convert two excellent early chances.
Guirassy added two more in the second half, both from close range, while Dortmund also had two further goals ruled out for offside, as the hosts racked up 18 attempts on goal, 11 of which were on target.
But Barcelona’s attacking approach meant they always had threat too, and one of their many attacks saw a low cross deflect off Ramy Bensebaini for an own goal that sucked much of the life out of the tie.
Guirassy’s third did set up a potentially nervy finale, but it was not to be, and it is Barcelona who progress to the final four, where they will play either Internazionale or Bayern Munich for a place in the final.

DORTMUND’S IMPRESSIVE EFFORT IN VAIN
Dortmund knew they needed at least four goals tonight - five as it turned out - so the pressure to score early was huge, which makes the nature of Serhou Guirassy’s penalty effort in the first half even more extraordinary.
Owen Hargreaves, in the TNT Studio, says the level of confidence on show was hugely impressive.
"When you need a goal you don’t think you’re going to do that! There’s a Panenka and then there’s a Panenka – it’s brilliant.
"He’s been absolutely amazing in this competition, a goal-scoring machine."

LESSONS TO LEARN FOR BARCELONA
Joe Cole, speaking on TNT Sports, says that Barcelona’s young players showed some frailties tonight – enough to suggest they will not win the competition, this year at least.
"All the credit goes to Dortmund," Cole said.
"For these young lads in the Barcelona team, who I think will go very close and maybe win the Champions League next year or the year after; what they will learn from this is how European football can flip between the legs. You’re 4-0 up, you’re strolling, it’s only half-time and teams can change. We’ve been there and it’s something you have to manage.
"So the young players will learn a lot from tonight. I still think Inter Milan or Bayern Munich playing this team in the semi-final will win."

BARCA WAIT TO DISCOVER FINAL-FOUR OPPONENTS
So Barcelona go through to the final four of the UEFA Champions League. They will face the winner of the quarter-final between Internazionale and Bayern Munich at the semi-final stage.
Inter lead 2-1 after ending Bayern’s three-year unbeaten streak in this competition at home last week. Inter host that second leg tomorrow night, and you can watch the match live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

FULL-TIME
The Borussia Dortmund fans stand to applaud their players as the final whistle sounds. It’s been an incredible effort tonight as the home side run out 3-1 winners, but it’s not enough as Barca’s first-leg advantage proves the difference, sending them through as 5-3 aggregate winners.

FOUR ADDED MINUTES
The board goes up to reveal that there will be four minutes of time added on. It’s probably not enough for Dortmund, who need a goal and right now.

GENUINE NERVES FOR BARCELONA
They lead 5-3 on aggregate, but the Barcelona bench look extremely nervous. Tonight has been a big test – far more so than most pundits predicted (TNT’s Robbie Savage and Owen Hargreaves included).

BARCA TAKE THEIR TIME
The referee spots a foul as Dortmund keep numbers up following a corner and Barcelona take the opportunity to eat up the time. Lewandowski makes way for Olmo to extend the stoppage.

JUST WON’T FALL FOR DORTMUND
Guirassy makes a great knockdown in the box but it just refuses to drop for a yellow shirted player. And seconds later Dortmund pour forward again but the final ball in fails to pick out an attacker. Phew, no chance for breath in Dortmund!

THAT WAS CLOSE!
A fizzing cross strikes the boot of Eric García, who doesn’t know much about it as the ball fizzes off him and fractionally wide. Chances continue to flow at both ends in this extraordinary game.

NO GOAL! THE FLAG DENIES DORTMUND
Julian Brandt came on just after that goal and he bursts in behind the Barcelona defence and finishes brilliantly from a tight angle. The crowd erupts, but the offside flag goes up to cut the celebrations short. It was offside too, but Dortmund’s tails are up and we’re in for a phenomenal finish here. Just to repeat, it’s 3-1 on the night, 3-5 on aggregate. So Dortmund still need two goals to force extra time. They will have chances though, that seems certain.

Borussia Dortmund
GOAL! BORUSSIA DORTMUND 3-1 (3-5) BARCELONA (SERHOU GUIRASSY)
It’s the hat-trick for Guirassy! Duranville beats his man on the outside and fizzed the ball into the middle. A terrible clearance drops straight to Guirassy, who is on hand to finish high into the roof of the net. It’s his third of the night and Dortmund are back to within two goals. VAR checks to see if Duranville had kept the ball in play, which he did (just) and the goal stands.

A CHANCE TO SEAL IT
Raphinha is found in the box and should score but sends his shot too close to the keeper. That would have ended this tie for good.
69'
TOO MUCH LEFT TO DO
Dortmund have thrown everything at this, but the energy has gone out of the stadium and the threat of the comeback seems to have gone.

CHANGES FOR DORTMUND
The home side have plenty of tired legs after throwing everything at their comeback attempt and some much-needed changes are made. On come Reyna and Duranville.

BARCELONA STRUT THEIR STUFF
Fermín López should score as Barcelona begin to dominate the game. A cut-back finds him in space on the edge of the box but he fires his shot well over the bar.

CHANGE FOR BARCELONA
The momentum has gone a little out of Dortmund’s assault, with Barcelona looking to control the ball in midfield. The introduction of Pedri in midfield for Gavi is a sign of the visitors’ quality.

GOAL! BORUSSIA DORTMUND 2-1 BARCELONA (OG RAMY BENSEBAINI)
Heartbreak for Dortmund as the ground falls silent, except for the pocket of travelling fans in the corner. A fizzed cross needs to be dealt with as Lewandowski lurks, but a backtracking Ramy Bensebaini can’t sort his feet out and diverts the ball into his own net. It’s 5-2 on aggregate and Barca’s attacking policy may just have won out.

BARCELONA STILL ATTACK
The visitors have a policy that it is goals that will seal this tie rather than defending their aggregate lead and they continue to throw numbers forward. Yamal has a crack and it is deflected wide, but Dortmund deal well with the resulting corner.
