‘Delivers every time’ - Jude Bellingham ‘at his best in big moments’, says Owen Hargreaves

Owen Hargreaves says Jude Bellingham plays his best football “in the big moments” and credited the Real Madrid midfielder for “delivering every time”.

Bellingham has enjoyed a blistering start to life in Spain following his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and has netted 20 goals in 29 games.

The 20-year-old has been deployed in a more advanced midfield role by Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, playing just behind the striker, and the Italian likened Bellingham to Brazilian legend Kaka.

TNT Sports’ Hargreaves believes the two players are different, but insists Bellingham has always been “ahead of the curve”.

“They’re different,” Hargreaves said on Ancelotti’s comparison. “Jude is obviously way more athletic, but I think Jude has been ahead of the curve his whole life.

“He was probably walking when he was three months old. The way he has taken to Real Madrid has been remarkable.

“We saw what he did at Birmingham and then Borussia Dortmund, but at Real Madrid, to be the number 10 when you’re not a number 10 and to be a goalscorer on top of that is remarkable.

“I think Jude is at his best in the big moments. Jude delivers every time you watch him play, it’s amazing.”

Peter Crouch said it will feel as though Bellingham is on “another level” to his England colleagues following his stunning season at the Bernabeu.

“The amount of goals he’s scored, everyone knew he had ability, to be a top player, but the way he has taken to it straight away,” Crouch said on TNT Sports.

“When there were other clubs sniffing around, I think Real Madrid puts you on another level.

“When you walk into an England dressing room and you’re playing for Real Madrid and you’re hitting the numbers he’s hitting, it takes you to another level.

“He has obviously embraced that challenge and he’s doing everything that is to be expected of him.”
