AWAY WE GO!
And action!

Michael Oliver is reffing tonight. I feel proud to be English, though am also disappointed that Mike Mularkey and Darren Can aren't running the line.
19:56
Er, there are disco lights there?
19:55
The players are tunnelled...

Of course, that Salzburg are now a factor teaches us about the economics of football. Casino, as they were once known, were bought by Red Bull to sell drinks, and they're now competitive partly because they keep winning their domestic league and taking Champions League coin to pull further ahead of their rivals. It's the feelgood story of the winter!
19:41
I'm glad people are now noticing this.

On BT, we've just learnt that Mrs Nagelsmann recently revealed her husband has been shouting players' names in his sleep. I can well believe that - I've previously played too much chess, too much backgammon, too much poker and too much Tetris, so gone to bed seeing moves, pieces and cards.

I do wonder if Bayern are just a little bit over the hill - Muller and Lewandowski, though brilliant, aren't as good as they were. Or maybe it just looks that way because Goretzka isn't available, I'm not sure.
19:34
In the group stages, Salzburg beat Sevilla, Wolfsburg and Lille at home, so they're on a decent run. Bayern, though, haven't lost away in 22 European matches.
19:31
I doubt Bayern would be playing this way if Alphonso Davies was fit, but sadly he's been diagnosed with myocarditis. He shoujld be back in a bit, but won't make this tie I wouldn't expect.

It's a real footballing fairytale (no it isn't).
19:26
Jurgen Klopp must be such a pleasure to play for. He's decided Harvey Elliott is good enough, so how old he is doesn't matter, and he starts toinght. I don't think any of the other big clubs have a manager who'd do that.

Gosh, Atleti are now losing. Follow along here...

Bayern lost to Bochum at the weekend - maybe they were teasing. Dayot Upamecano came in for some stick after that one, most notably from the ever-tactful Lothar Matthaus. "Upamecano seems to be shaky," he said. He seems like a foreign body, but he’s been here for seven or eight months. How much time should you give him? He’s not doing enough".
And Upmecano loses his place tonight, as Bayern move to three at the back; Tolisso replaces him, coming into midfield.

My days, Jake Humphrey is cloying. More news as I get it.

Oh, and also...
