Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of a mouthwatering Champions League Group G clash between Juventus and Barcelona. It was billed as the latest chapter in the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but sadly the latter hasn’t tested negative for Covid-19 yet and cannot feature (much to his disappointment). Kick off 20:00 GMT.

Yep.

This is seriously end-to-end already. Messi eager to run at the Juventus defence at every opportunity.

Almost a dream start for the visitors. A shocker of a back pass allows Messi to seize possession on the left of the box. He takes aim but sees his goal-bound shot brilliantly blocked by Bonucci. Barcelona keep the pressure on from the corner and eventually see Griezmann crack the post with a thumping shot. Nervy stuff from Juventus.

STAT: This is the seventh time Juventus have hosted Barca and they are yet to lose. It is their joint-best total against a side in European competition, alongside their six unbeaten matches versus Atletico Madrid (W5 D1).

MESSI MAGIC: Barca's talisman has scored more UEFA Champions League group stage goals than any other player in the competition (69 in 73 games), while in the current format of the competition (since 2003-04), only Cristiano Ronaldo (24) has more group stage assists than the Argentinian (22).

Danilo, Juventus defender: "I feel good about the way we play. We often have the ball and therefore there’s no problem. We have to be quick and focused. We are on the right path. These are the best matches to play in. Any team would miss a player like Cristiano, but we have faith in all the players."

A closer look at the team sheets suggests both managers are looking to be bold and attack from the off, which should make for a great spectacle. Juve have included Chiesa, Dybala, Morata, and Kulusevski from the start in what looks like being a fluid 3-4-3 adjusting to a 4-4-2 with wide attackers when required. However, they are missing the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt in defence.
Meanwhile, Barca are without the suspended Gerard Pique in their defence, but Koeman has included Ex-Juve star, Miralem Pjanic in place of Sergio Busquets. Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele come in to support Lionel Messi in attack in a 4-2-3-1 system.

It’s been a crazy few days for Barca with defeat in El Clasico followed by the revelation that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the entire board were resigning from their positions with immediate effect. But who will replace him? Catch up on the latest gossip via our Euro Papers video.

Five years on from their meeting in the 2015 Champions League final, Barcelona and Juventus have not made the best of starts to the 2020-21 league campaigns. It means the new men in the respective dugouts are already under a bit of pressure to deliver, making this an intriguing night.

Andrea Pirlo, Juventus coach: "Barcelona are strong and have great champions. We have to play a great game. [Lionel] Messi is still at the top, I have faced him many times as a player and tomorrow I will do so for the first time as a coach."

Ronald Koeman on Juve's experience: “Juventus are a top club in Europe with experienced players in terms of defence they are very strong despite some important players that will be missing tomorrow. They know how to dominate matches with players in attack and Dybala can create problems, Morata is always there ready to score, there are also important midfielders that can play a very good match.”
