That was a strange game, neither side playing with their usual verve, enterprise and intensity. But Spurs found a goal, didn't concede an away goal, and will fancy themselves to score in Manchester, which would make things very tricky for City.

City win a free-kick on the left and De Bruyne whips in menacingly, but Lloris punches and Fernandinho heads over.

De Bruyne drives through midfield and feeds Sane, who allows the ball to pass under his feet so he can keep running, but ruins the angle in the process and winds up having to check.

Sterling rolls into De Bruyne, out on the right, and he crosses low and hard, but Lloris is there to grab.

Rose drives through Fernandinho and suddenly he's got tow men outside him! But he doesn't look over, finding Son instead, who lashes high.

City have created almost nothing tonight.

I wonder if Spurs will try and sneak another one - they should, because City won't play this badly again.

City are getting what they deserve here. They've played without intensity, enterprise and conviction, with no good reason.

The thing with City is, their defence isn't really good enough to win this competition. They still might, because the other elements of the team are so strong, and I'd back them to win this tie, but if they have to face Ronaldo or Messi, they're in big trouble.
