They won the ball high up the pitch, with Oxlade-Chamberlain lashing home a strike from about 25 yards out! Incredible goal from the midfielder!

Just as happened in the Premier League game between these two teams earlier in the season, Man City have been knocked out of their stride. They do look rattled after that goal.

Time and time again City are looking to expose the space in behind Alexander-Arnold. The majority of their attacking play is coming down the right side. Sane seeing plenty of it.

Ederson thumps the ball straight out of play and Anfield cheers. The famous old stadium is rocking and Man City's players look to have been rattled by losing that opening goal.

Liverpool were living dangerously there. They committed too many bodies forward for the freekick and left themselves short at the back. Sane should have done better with the chance.

SANE JUST WIDE! Liverpool win a freekick in a dangerous position, but leave themselves open to the counter. Sane drives forward, Liverpool back off and back off, but the German shoots wide.

Man City have been the better team on the balance of play in these opening 10 minutes or so, but it's Liverpool who have the lead. City should have done so much better in clearing the danger after tackling Firmino.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Liverpool 1 (12 mins - Mohamed Salah) Manchester City 0. First blood to Liverpool and it's that man again! Salah played the ball through to Firmino, who was tackled. But the ball fell nicely to Salah who finished high into the roof of the net! Liverpool have the lead!

Liverpool are now trying to force the ball down the right side where they can involve Salah. However, Manchester City are crowding out the Egyptian. Their game plan is working so far.

Sane and Silva have seen plenty of the ball in these opening 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Liverpool are struggling to get a grip of things in the middle of the pitch. City playing well here.

Man City already look to have grown into the game. They are the ones dictating the pace and tempo of the play. Liverpool haven't been as adventurous as many expected them to be.

SANE SHOT! The young German bursts into the Liverpool box, holding off two opposition defenders, but his strike finds the side netting after picking up a deflection.

Laporte is playing on the left side of the Manchester City defence. The idea there is to keep Salah under wraps. Of course, defenders have been trying to do that all season long...

Liverpool inflicted the first Premier League defeat of the season on Manchester City. That was a thrilling 4-3 win for the Reds. They'll be looking to evoke the spirit of that match.

It's been a lively start from both teams early on. First, Liverpool attacked down the left side through Robertson, then Man City hit out on the counter attack. No chances yet, though.

These are the two remaining English teams left in the Champions League and they are playing for a place in the semi finals of the competition. Only one of them can make it through. Who will it be?
