Napoli are giving the ball away a lot in defence, you can't afford to do that when you have Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale lurking.

POST! Benzema threads the ball through to Ronaldo who rounds the keeper and hits the post with only an empty net to aim at!

CHANCE! Good interplay from Insigne who trades passes with Mertens before firing in a low effort from 25 yards which is straight at Navas.

If Napoli score next, they will be ahead on away goals. Madrid look slightly rattled now.

GOAL! The in-form Mertens collects Hamsik's through ball and drills the ball into the far corner from a tight angle. Game on!

We have passed the midway point of the half. Napoli have created most of the chances but the visitors are slowly coming into the game more and seeking to pounce on any misplaced passes.

Hysaj has gone down injured after getting clipped by Kroos, who escapes a booking. He gingerly gets to his feet.

BALE CHANCE: The Welshman does well to control a pinpoint long ball from Casemiro before rifling a slow shot from the edge of the area which is straight at the keeper, disappointing effort.

HAMSIK EFFORT: The skipper picks up the ball 30 yards out and tries a low drive which goes across goal, decent effort. He has been finding some space in front of the Madrid defence.

KROOS SHOT: Koulibaly gives the ball away and the visitors break, Bale chips in a cross for the German whose volley from 25 yards is straight at Reina.

GOOD EFFORT: Insigne fires in an early shot from 30 yards, just as he did with his goal in the first leg, and Navas beats the ball away. It looked to be creeping wide but the keeper had to be sure.

CHANCE! Madrid break, Kroos with a clever ball lofted to Bale who beats his man and chips in a cross for Ronaldo but he is flagged off-side.

Good pressing from the Italians, Madrid have yet to settle. This is a promising start from Sarri's men.

CHANCE! Hamsik collects the ball on the edge of the box and fires in a shot on the half turn, its a whisker away from the post.

Another corner to the home side after Ramos tackles Mertens. The inswinging delivery is punched behind by Navas. The second corner is headed clear by Benzema.

Deafening boos from the partisan home crowd every time Real have the ball.
