Feghouli clips in a low cross from the right that is set to find a prowling Alcacer, only for Garay to nip in and clear the danger.
8'
'Dominance' might be over-egging it slightly...
7'
Hulk draws oohs and aahs from the Zenit supporters as he beats Cancelo with a lovely stepover but Vezo comes across to play the ball off the Brazilian for a goal kick.
6'
Feghouli turns well and almost plays Alcacer through on goal with a slide-rule pass that is just slightly overhit and runs through to Lodygin. Lively start, this.
5'
Shatov unleashes a mammoth throw from the left and an uncertain Abdennour opts to head the ball out for a Hulk corner that curls out of play on its way into the box.
3'
Valencia respond with a nice attack of their own as Gomes slides the ball into Alcacer and the Spain international twists away from Lombaerts before firing tamely straight at Lodygin.
2'
Dzyuba nods a long ball from Lombaerts dangerously on and Shatov almost races clear in the Valencia box, but he can't bring the ball under control and Cancelo clears.

Referee Svein Oddvar Moen blows his whistle Zenit get us under way in St Petersburg.

The players are out on the pitch at Petrovsky Stadium with more than a few gloves on show. Kick-off is moments away...

What is it about Andre Villas-Boas that brings out the be(a)st in Hulk?
16:50
Valencia coach Nuno Espirito Santo: "We have watched a lot of Zenit matches and we know the quality of their players and the style of their team. We are well prepared. We are already feeling [the cold] but we are ready for the weather and ready to face Zenit. Yes, we are missing some important players, but we have the reserves to plug these gaps. To keep Hulk quiet we are going to have to work as a team, and be organised and focused. As usual, we need to work, we need to analyse and we need to start tuning in for the match. Zenit have a clear game plan – they play very quickly and move from defence to attack very effectively."
16:45
Zenit coach Andre Villas-Boas: "The most important thing for us is to win the match and go through as group winners. This is very important for us as it would mean playing at home in the second leg of our round of 16 tie. We have two attempts at getting the point we need. Our strategy will be no different to previous games – we will counterattack, we will keep a balance between defence and attack, and we will play to win. Valencia have plenty of motivation and will do everything they can to get the result they require."
16:40
Zenit have scored freely in the Champions League this season and the Valencia defence will have to be at its best to keep them out. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has more goals (five) in this season's competition than Artem Dzyuba (four), while Hulk has also lashed in three goals from his slightly more withdrawn role.
16:35
The temperature at Petrovsky Stadium is a cool -2°C and looking at the Valencia players roaming the pitch, you can tell...
16:30
Zenit, meanwhile, have won just two of their last nine home games against Spanish opposition, but this season Andre Villas-Boas' men appear a rather different beast. They beat Valencia at Mestalla 3-2 on matchday one and are the only team left in this season's Champions League with a 100 per cent record. With their place in the knockout stage already assured, the Russians know that a draw will be enough to see them clinch top spot in Group H.
16:25
Valencia take to the field in St Petersburg knowing a victory will be enough to send them into the Champions League knockout stage if Gent fail to beat Lyon in France, and recent history should give them confidence. The Spanish giants have emerged victorious on their last three trips to Russia, most recently beating Kuban Krasnodar 2-0 in the Europa League group stage two seasons ago.
