Shakhtar get the game underway, kitted out in their familiar orange and black. Real Madrid are in all-white as ever.

The teams are out, the Champions League anthem has been played and we're all set for kick-off.

Shakhtar are actually playing away from home tonight, over 1,000km away from home. The club's home games have moved to Lviv in the west of Ukraine for this season's Champions League campaign due to the unrest in the country. And it was the unrest that was also partly responsible for the departure of a number of the team's big names in the summer.

The Real Madrid fans are not happy with the line-up... but are they ever happy? Kick-off is just ten minutes away.

Here’s a reminder of those teams:
Shakhtar Donetsk: Pyatov; Kobin, Ordets, Rakitskiy, Azevedo; Fred, Stepanenko, Marlos, Teixeira, Bernard, Gladkiy.
Real Madrid: Casilla; Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Nacho; Casemiro, Modric, Kovacic; Isco, Bale, Ronaldo.

Neither Navas or Ramos are starting for Real tonight, but...

So Rafa has sprung one or two surprises with his team selection. There’s no Benzema and no Kroos, but even more remarkably there’s no James Rodriguez (who has been one of the better players for Madrid this season) and no Keylor Navas in between the sticks. Bale and Ronaldo both start, as does Isco – despite his senseless red card against Barca.

With the greatest of respect to Shakhtar Donetsk (cue no respect shown) this game is all about Real Madrid. Humiliated at the hands of their great rivals at the weekend and with the fans calling for the president to go, the manager to go, the players to go, the kit-man to go, the ball-boys to go, and anyone even tenuously linked with the club to go, Real need to win tonight to try and get their furious supporters back on side.
