Another player renewing acquaintances is Iago Falque, who began his career in Barcelona's youth ranks but played just one league game for their B team. He starts in Roma's midfield along with Seydou Keita.

Luis Enrique may be facing his former employers tonight but the head coach is not alone in doing so from within the Roma ranks. Seydou Keita was a Barcelona player from 2008–12 and appeared as a substitute in their 2009 and 2011 UEFA Champions League final triumphs as well as winning three Spanish Liga titles.

For holders Barcelona, Lionel Messi makes his 100th appearance in the competition, alongside Luis Suarez and Neymar in attack.

Three players on loan from the Premier League all start for Roma. Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah and Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko are all in the starting eleven.
