FULL TIME: Napoli 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

The ball is lumped into the box, where Athletic have a few attackers up. But San Jose can only direct his header into the arms of Cabral.

Munain is still full of running, even at this late stage of the game. But when he gets forward he has very few options. His teammates seem quite content with holding out for a draw.

This has been a very strange game. For as poor as Napoli were for large periods of this game, they could have scored five or six. That's how many chances they've had at either ends of the contest.

Athletic are almost undone by a defensive mix-up. Gurpegi leaves a ball over the top for his goalkeeper, unaware that Higuain is lurking behind him, but the Napoli striker puts his shot wide from a tight angle.

Incredible save! Mertens drops a shoulder and bursts into the box, squaring it back to Higuain. The striker powers a shot towards goal but Iraizoz sticks a hand up to make the stop!

Athletic are sinking deeper and deeper into their own half now. In fact, the visitors are pretty much camped inside their own box, but they remain well organised. They won't be easy to break down.

Good effort, good save! Mertens drives forward down the left, cutting inside onto his right foot, but his shot is saved on the stretch by Iraizoz. It was a comfortable enough save, but good strike nonetheless.

There's still a sense of bemusement at what we have just seen from Michu. Did he think the whistle had gone? He seemed to stop playing, eight yards out from goal. Bizarre.

What was Michu doing! A cross from the byline falls at the feet of Michu eight yards out who has a fantastic chance to score. But incredibly he passes backwards. I can't believe he's done that, and neither can the San Paolo crowd!

Athletic sub: Markel Susaeta OFF, Ibai Gomez ON.

So with that change it would now seem as though Napoli will play with a front three, although Mertens will drop deeper. I suppose that's what you do when the opposition switch to a back five.

Napoli sub: Marek Hamsik OFF, Michu ON.

Here comes Michu! Napoli are looking for the winner. 1-1 isn't really good enough for the second leg.

Indeed, it looks like Athletic have moved to a back five and are looking for shore things up now. They would be delighted with a 1-1 draw, and an away goal, to take into the second leg.

YELLOW CARD: Mikel Balenziaga (Athletic Bilbao)

That's a tactical shift from Valverde. Benat is a central midfielder, with San Jose a big, tall, commanding cenre-back. Does that mean Athletic will play the final 15 minutes with a back five?
