STAT: APOEL have played a Spanish team 12 times in European competition and have never won (D5 L7). However, their first ever Champions League group stage game ended in a goalless draw away against Atletico Madrid (September 2009). Anorthosis Famagusta are the only Cypriot side to beat Spanish opposition. It was in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup (2-0 at home). However, no team from the Mediterranean island has ever won in Spain.

Giorgos Donis: "In modern football you get all kinds of surprise results but we are realistic. It's no use sitting here talking about past results like Rubin Kazan's here. We are realistic. When I see big teams like Athletic Club or Atlético Madrid struggling against Barcelona, we realise how big a task we have ahead of us. But you must always dream."

FACT: Barcelona are unbeaten against Cypriot sides in European competition, winning twice at home and drawing their two away games. They have scored 11 goals and conceded only one.

Luis Enrique: "My job as a coach is to tell the players there are no easy matches. We have analysed every aspect of APOEL. They like to dominate games, they are tactically strong and they have lots of Brazilian and Portuguese players, so we will give them the attention they deserve."

So Luis Enrique has made nine changes to the eleven that faced Athletic Bilbao on his European coaching debut. Back comes Dani Alves into an attacking line-up that should provide too much firepower for APOEL. Both Tasos Papazoglou (thigh), John Arne Riise (fitness) miss out for the Cypriots.
