Good evening and welcome to LIVE text commentary of the Champions League Last-16 tie between Monaco and Arsenal at Stade Louis II. The Gunners face an uphill task to secure a place in the last eight after losing the first-leg at the Emirates by a 3-1 scoreline. To put their task into context, the last side to overturn a two-goal margin after losing the home clash first in the European Cup was Ajax in 1969 (excluding qualifiers).

Clocked a pre-match stat re. Monaco's possession. Seems to be the same again tonight... STAT: Monaco have averaged the lowest possession in the Champions League this season among the 16 teams left in the competition (43.7%).

One of many Tweets praising the display of Danny boy thus far.

Monaco can't live with Arsenal's frontmen when they break. Welbeck, Sanchez and Ozil cause havoc once more and force the corner... which eventually comes to nothing. More bright points for Wenger and co though.

If Arsenal can recreate the shots stats from the first period they could be on for a bit of history...

A note of caution amidst the positivity surrounding Arsenal's chances...

Arsenal straight on the attack.Sanchez's cutback can't find Welbeck but drops for Giroud on the edge of the box, who can only drag wide.

KICK OFF! Arsenal restart the match needing 2 goals to have any chance. A 2-0 win isn't good enough. Monaco currently lead 3-2 on aggregate.

Welbeck down the right... but his cross hits a defender and bounces kindly for the keeper... One last attack for the visitors... but the forward sees a well-struck shot sizzle straight into Subasic's arms...HT: Monaco 0-1 Arsenal. Giroud's goal gives the Gunners some hope. They still need three but will have high hopes after that 45 minutes.

One minute added.

Will be interesting to see if Monaco change at the break. They've been very poor.

Monaco need the interval. Arsenal well on top and looking dangerous.

It's still all Arsenal... Sanchez goes down on the far left of the area... but the referee gives the Arsenal man a yellow card for diving. Not sure it was simulation, but was it a dive? Not sure it deserved a yellow.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their 11 away games against French clubs in European competition. However, they have never won any of these games by more than one goal.

That goal looked inevitable from around the 15-minute mark...

SO CLOSE! A left-wing cross drops for Welbeck on the edge of the area. The striker lets fly but sees his goalbound shot hit Aymen Abdennour and somehow deflect wide. It could have gone anywhere. Let off for the hosts.

Seven goals in his last eight for Giroud who looks like he could yet ram those critical words down the throats of his detractors.
37'
Arsenal deserve that. Now, are there doubts in that Monaco team?

GOAL! Giroud is sent clear. He sees his first shot saved but hammers the rebound into the roof of the net. Game on? (Monaco lead 3-2 on agg).

Brilliant feet from Monreal on the left sees him race into the area but his cross is straight at the first man.

Monaco appear to be in that awful no-man's land that sometimes comes with a handsome first-leg lead. They aren't attacking enough and look content to allow Arsenal to come onto them. It's not a good tactic.

With no goals or major talking points yet, reporters on Twitter are scratching their heads thinking of ways to get Bono into their Tweets and potential morning reports...
