Some decent build up play from Madrid - Modric's cross just evades Ronaldo.

Benzema missed that earlier header when he really should have tested the goalkeeper - the forward already finds himself under pressure with some poor recent performances and that miss won't have helped his confidence any.

Modric tries to pick out Di Maria in the danger area but Wiland comes and collects the ball easily. The Croatian midfielder has pulled the strings so far for the home side.

Ronaldo's shot is fired high and wide after some good work from - you guessed it - Marcelo.

Gislason's long ranged shot goes well wide as Copenhagen have another poor shot.

Casillas is forced into his first "save" of the night with a tame shot from Braaten.

Madrid are starting to settle down now and that spells trouble for Copenhagen - Di Maria's shot is deflected over the bar.

What a challenge by Sigurdsson who makes a last ditch tackle to stop Modric who looked certain to double Madrid's advantage.

Real Madrid haven't been at their fluent best yet - despite leading. Xabi Alonso is missing from midfield and they don't quite look the same team without the former Liverpool star.
