Meanwhile, in the absence of Pellegrini, Malaga defender Martin Demichelis was thrust into the media spotlight. He told reporters: "We would like to win this one for [Pellegrini]. We are all sad. He did not tell us at first about his father passing away, that shows his greatness. We have offered him our condolences. We will try everything to go through for him. It is quite possible that this will not be over after 90 minutes. It might play into our hands but there's no way we will play for 0-0."

So what's the pre-match natter? Dortmund coach, Klopp feels his team need to show more patience in the second leg following a frustrating encounter in Spain. He told his pre-match press conference: "Our big mistake in the first leg was not squandering chances, but how we reacted to it. You could see it irritated us and that only strengthens your opposition. We have to do better than that and I believe we will. The atmosphere was really good in Malaga, but I am convinced we can top it."
