Auxerre take the lead! Some quick thinking from Chafni, who is fouled down the right hand side. He takes the free kick quickly, playing in Langil who races clear behind the Ajax back line and then slots it through Stekelenburg's legs! 2-1 Auxerre! Clinical!

Auxerre venture forward on a rare attack, and this leaves gaps at the back when the ball is lost in the Ajax half. A brilliant ball finds de Jong running in behind the trailing Auxerre defence but Grichting makes a brilliant saving tackle to prevent a goal! Corner to Ajax!

It's all Ajax, and has been for the last 15 minutes. Their final ball or shot has let them down so far and Auxerre look comfortable at the moment.

When Auxerre do get the ball, they have one option, which is to chip it over the top for Langil. So far, all the balls have been well overhit.

El Hamdaoui gets to the right byline and manages to chip a ball back across the face of goal! It's headed towards the centre of the goal where Sorin takes it, but Suarez is backing in and tries to push the keeper into the net! Sorin just about manages to keep the ball from going over the line, and the referee doesn't blow for a foul.

Auxerre have left just Langil up front, with a midfield five now sitting deep in front of their own defence. At the minute Ajax are doing well to past around them, and have been creating chances, but the finishing has not been good enough.

A ball over the top finds Suarez, who knocks the ball down for El Hamdaoui to hit first time! He snatches at the ball though and his shot is straight at the keeper.

Ajax are getting very close! van der Wiel crosses from the right, and the ball finds its way to de Zeeuw at the far post, who takes a quick touch and rushes a volley! It goes a couple of yards wide, but Sorin was rooted to the spot!
