BAYERN PRODUCE STUNNING COMEBACK TO MAINTAIN UNBEATEN START
Bayern Munich overcame their biggest obstacle of the season as they fought from two goals behind to beat Freiburg 3-2 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Michael Olise starred with two goals and three assists, while Harry Kane and Nicolas Jackson were also on target.
Freiburg took the lead through Yuito Suzuki, who finished excellently following a low corner, which fell to the Japanese midfielder in the box to steer home with power.
It was the second time Bayern had fallen behind in consecutive games, but things became even more unfamiliar for Vincent Kompany’s side when Freiburg grabbed a second to stun Allianz Arena and threaten the champions’ undefeated start to the campaign.
It came from another corner, as Johan Manzambi rose highest in a sea of red and white to nod a brilliant header beyond the helpless Manuel Neuer.
Bayern quickly hit back through the impressive 17-year-old Lennart Karl, who showcased some brilliant footwork in the box before slotting home to halve the deficit.
Olise set the teenager up for his third goal of the season, and the France international was the one to pull the hosts level in added time at the end of the first half when his fierce effort could only be parried into the net by Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.
And it was not long before Bayern got their noses in front, as Dayot Upamecano excellently lost his man on a corner before volleying home at the back post.
Not only did Bayern complete the comeback, but they turned on the heat as Kane, Jackson and another Olise strike added gloss to the scoreline to seal a thumping win.
Kompany’s side can now turn their attention to a mouthwatering UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal - live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - in a contest between first and second in the league phase. Both sides have a 100% record in the competition.

90'+6
FULL-TIME! BAYERN 6-2 FREIBURG
That's a statement win from Bayern after falling two goals behind, as they maintain their advantage at the top of the Bundesliga!
90'+3
DOWN TOOLS
Understandably, both teams have taken their foot off the gas.
The game is done and dusted, and both sides will soon be able to turn their attention to Europe.
90'
SIX MINUTES ADDED
Can Bayern add to their tally at the end of the second half?
87'
MUCH BETTER
This would have been the exact response Vincent Kompany was after following the appalling start in the first half.
Not only have they turned it around, but they've turned it on, and looked like scoring every time they fly forward.
84'
GOAL!!! - BAYERN 6-2 FREIBURG (OLISE)
Another one for Olise and this one is a beauty!
He cuts inside from the right and curls a wonderful effort into the top left corner.
Two goals and three assists today - sensational!
78'
GOAL!!! - BAYERN 5-2 FREIBURG (JACKSON)
The former Chelsea man adds gloss to the scoreline!
He slots home after another brilliant bit of play from Olise, who registers his third assist of the game!
76'
AROUND THE GROUNDS
Dortmund are now drawing, but Leverkusen are still in control, so as things stand, Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga will remain eight points.
73'
FREIBURG TRIPLE CHANGE
They made three changes a few minutes ago...
Eren Dinkci, Igor Matanovic and Patrick Osterhage are all on.
71'
BAYERN CHANGE
Jackson is introduced as Karl's day is done.
67'
CONCERN FOR KARL
He goes down holding his hip/lower back area.
The 17-year-old has been electric today, scoring and assisting.
63'
KANE IN THE FORM OF HIS LIFE
He might have had a quiet day by his standards up until now, but the England captain is inevitable.
His stats this season:
- 24 goals in 18 appearances for Bayern
- 29 goals in 23 appearances for club and country
Time and time again!
60'
GOAL!!! - BAYERN 4-2 FREIBURG (KANE)
You can't keep him quiet for long!
The ball falls to Kane in the box, and the striker does what he does best - finds the back of the net with a cool finish.
What a response from the champions in this match.
55'
GOAL!!!!! - BAYERN 3-2 FREIBURG (UPAMECANO)
Comeback complete!
This time it is Freiburg who have been done from the corner, as Dayot Upamecano loses his man before volleying home at the back post.
What a finish!
54'
AROUND THE GROUNDS
There is plenty of action in the Bundesliga today.
Borussia Dortmund (2nd) and Bayer Leverkusen (3rd) are both winning, and as things stand, will close the gap on Bayern.
51'
KARL HAS THE BALL IN THE NET!
But the 17-year-old is robbed of a brace as the flag goes up.
Josip Stanisic made an overlapping run to get onto Olise's through ball, but made his run too early before squaring the ball for Karl to finish.
The correct decision.
46'
BAYERN SUB
The hosts have made a change at the break.
45'
SECOND HALF
We're back underway in Munich!
45'+3
HALF-TIME! BAYERN 2-2 FREIBURG
That's all for the first half, and what a second half it is set to be!
45'+2
GOAL!!!! - BAYERN 2-2 FREIBURG (OLISE)
And they do get their equaliser before half-time
Olise picks the ball up in the box and thumps it past Noah Atubolu, who can only get a hand onto it as he parries it into the net.
That will make Vincent Kompany feel much better, though he will be far from happy after this opening period.
