Naby Keita has been suspended by Werder Bremen until the end of the season. The midfielder has also been handed a "substantial fine" by his club after refusing to travel to their game against Bayer Leverkusen. Football Director Clemens Fritz said the club "won't tolerate" the former Liverpool man's behaviour. He will not be allowed to train with the team as part of the punishment.

Naby Keita has been suspended until the end of the season by Werder Bremen after refusing to travel to their game against Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool midfielder has also been given a "substantial fine" as part of his punishment.
He had decided to go home after finding out he would not be starting the game, which his team lost 5-0 as Xabi Alonso's side were crowned Bundesliga champions.
"We won't tolerate Naby's behaviour," said Football Director Clemens Fritz.
"He let his team down in a time of difficulty surrounding our recent run of form and squad availability and put his own interests above those of the team. We can't allow that."
Keita, who had previously played for RB Leipzig, returned to Germany from Liverpool last summer.
He had endured an injury-plagued five years on Merseyside, but was part of The Reds side who won the Premier League title in 2019/20.
However, he has struggled for game time since joining Bremen, making only five league appearances.
Ole Werner's side have found life tough themselves, and currently sit in 12th place in the German top-flight after failing to win any of their last seven matches.
As such, they are only five points clear of the relegation play-off place.
"At this stage of the season, we need full focus on the remaining games and a team who stick together," Fritz added. "That's why we've been left with no alternative."
Keita will not be allowed to train with the team for the duration of the suspension, while he has also been banned from the first team dressing room.
