KANE MOONLIGHTS AS PLAYMAKER
Having already notched his first Bundesliga assist, Kane tries to repeat the trick with a faded through-ball. His teammates fail to read the pass, allowing Pavlenka to gather.

KANE'S FREE KICK BLOCKED
It's Kane's turn to win a smart free kick, this time in an ideal shooting position 20 yards out. He steps up but his effort takes a deflection, sending the shot spinning away harmlessly.

NO GOAL!
Niclas Fullkrug wins a clever free kick from Dayot Upamecano to the left of the area. Marvin Ducksch steps up and whips in a delivery, setting up Fullkrug to power a belting header past Sven Ulreich. Unfortunately for him, the offside flag goes up. A VAR check confirms that Fullkrug was in an offside position.

GOAL!
Jamal Musiala wins a loose ball in midfield, setting off a Bayern counter-attack. Kane flicks the ball in behind for Leroy Sane, who bursts through a huge hole in Werder's defence before slotting low under Jiri Pavlenka for the first goal of the new Bundesliga campaign.

WILL KANE GET ON THE SCORESHEET?
Having only been given a 25-minute cameo against RB Leipzig, coming on in the second half with Bayern already 2-0 down, Kane had little chance to affect the result. In the starting line-up this evening, he will expect to hit the ground running. Werder are not known for their rock-solid defence, having shipped 64 goals in the league last term. That left them 15th for goals conceded, with only Bochum, Schalke and Hertha below them.

WERDER HOPING FOR AN UPSET
Having lost home and away to Bayern last season by an aggregate scoreline of 8-2, Werder will have to spring a surprise this evening to get a point let alone three. The reigning champions were far from infallible last term, however – almost allowing the Meisterschale to slip from their grasp under pressure from Borussia Dortmund – and come into this match on the back of a chastening defeat, so there are weaknesses to be exploited.
