England forward Chloe Kelly has issued an extraordinary statement on Instagram as she pushes to leave Manchester City before the Women's Super League transfer window closes. Chloe Kelly posted an extraordinary message about her future just 24 hours before the Women's Super League transfer deadline as she looks to force a move away from Manchester City.
England international Kelly has started just once for City this term - against West Ham in October - and released a message on her Instagram account saying that she "just want[s] to be happy again".
Kelly scored the winning goal in England's remarkable Euro 2022 victory, when the Lionesses won the country's first major tournament since 1966 with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Germany at Wembley Stadium.
However, her career has stalled in recent months, and with her contract at City expiring at the end of the season, Kelly has publicly disclosed her desire for game time as she eyes the European Championship this summer.
"With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country," Kelly wrote on Instagram a little over 24 hours before the WSL transfer deadline.
"However, to be dictated whom I can and can't join with only four months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental wellbeing.

"The situation has been dragged on for too long, it's disappointing and not right.
"I'm at a pivotal point in my life and my career is so important to me. [It] is very disappointing that the sport we love can make you feel this way especially after there's been so much growth in our sport," Kelly said.
"I am human and I have and will give everything to the game that I love.
"Ultimately, I just want to be happy again."

Kelly, who began her career at Arsenal, signed for City in 2020 after turning down a new deal at Everton.
In her four and a half years at the club, she has made 75 WSL appearances, scoring 21 times.
She has 48 senior caps for England, scoring seven goals, and she won the golden boot at the 2023 Arnold Clark Cup, before scoring the winning penalty as the Lionesses won the 2023 Finalissima against Brazil at Wembley.
She was part of Sarina Wiegman's 2023 World Cup squad that lost out to Spain in the final.
