He crosses the line in the company of the favourites. I'd suggest that's as impressive as taking it in the first place. After what must have been a really hard day, he follows it up by proving it was far from a fluke.

Third for Garcia Pierna. He'll move up in the GC.

His 'fingers in the ears celebration' isn't hard to interpret. Don't call it a comeback, because the general classification has gone, but what a riposte. What an addition to his palmares. He makes it three wins in a row for UAE Emirates.

And Jorgenson takes back control over the peloton for Visma.

That's good news for Traeen, who is one of those able to recover. His lead isn't under threat, and I think he's going to extend it, if anything.

It's the move we predicted. Those who can follow do. That really means just Vingegaard and Ciccone initially but the pace slows, allowing Kuss and Bernal to come back.

Over a minute now, to two riders who are riding pretty well themselves. UAE are dominating this climb.

And it's Ben Tulett time in the peloton. It's not hard enough for UAE, as Marc Soler escorts Joao Almeida over the top to the front to put Visma under pressure. That surely signals the Portugese rider's intentions.

He waited until after the steepest part of the climb to hand over to Kelderman, naturally.

His lead extends to 40 seconds over Garcia Perna and Frigo, a minute to what remains of the breakaway. He's getting plenty of support from the side of the road. A first Vuelta stage will be no small consolation to him.

And immediately plonks in alongside Giulio Ciccone. What a team-mate to have.

Spain looking good for a result here, which might make up for their GC struggles.

Sean's not sure why, given Frigo was willingly working with him, but the Spanish rider seems determined to do this on his own. He quickly pulls out a good gap.

He'll go as long as he can before handing over to his climby-er colleagues, Kelderman, Jorgenson and Kuss. I think Tulett might still be there too.

A solo attack and where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, a couple of hours ago. Marco Frigo is the rider most able to follow. I think Jay Vine's day is done. He'll be in the mountains jersey at the end of the day no matter what.
