RACE REPORT: MARIANNE VOS TRIUMPHS FOR SECOND 2025 LA VUELTA FEMENINA WIN
Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a bike) took her second stage win of this year's La Vuelta Femenina in a tense sprint finish on Stage 6. Team-mate Imogen Wolff provided the perfect lead-out for Vos to take her 257th road victory, but she had to battle with fellow Dutchwoman Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx - Protime) in the final 200m to do so, ultimately winning it on the line.
Vos and Bredewold had been involved in a short-lived breakaway at around the 11km to go mark as she worked tirelessly to close down a double attack from Liane Lippert (Movistar). The German rider had led the chase to and surpassed an existing breakaway of three riders with the first of two damaging moves, but rejoined a reduced peloton with the Dutch duo as the final nine kilometres approached. Earlier in the stage, a breakaway of 19 riders had created a gap, but ultimately rejoined the peloton before further attacks followed throughout the remainder of the day.
Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez) retained her lead in the general classification with +45" on SD Worx's Anna van der Breggen, and finished 38th on Stage 6 - and after the finish, she made reference to a crash before the final corner that delayed her passage to the line.
The defending champion will look to secure back-to-back La Vuelta Femenina titles in Saturday's mountain stage. From La Robla to Alto de Cotobello.Asturias, the final stage covers 152.6 km, including 2,880 meters of elevation gain on a brutal mountain route - see you then!

MARIANNE VOS WINS LA VUELTA FEMENINA STAGE 6!
She wins it with the bike throw! That was such a tight finish, and a great ride from Bredewold to take second place, a few weeks on from her Amstel Gold victory.
Another impressive ride from Imogen Wolff (a great name, I must say) who provides an excellent lead out for Vos, who earns her 257th road victory!
13:18
A CLOSE FINISH!
Looks as if it'll be a photo finish between Bredewold and Vos... it's a close one, too close to tell from that angle!
200M TO GO - BREDEWOLD GOES, VOS ON THE WHEEL
The Dutch duo go head to head!
500M TO GO - VOS FOURTH WHEEL
Who's going to take it?!
13:16
1KM TO GO - WHO'S UP FOR THE SPRINT?
Guazzini putting in a huge effort for Vollering on the run into the final kilometre!
13:14
3KM TO GO - DESCENT BEGINS
Kasia Niewiadoma (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) closes down Kerbaol on the descent and the peloton are back together! Looks like a big bunch sprint could decide this one!
13:13
4.4KM TO GO - ATTACK FROM KERBAOL!
Cédrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) makes a move over the top! Lidl-Trek trying to close her down but she's created some space.
13:12
5KM TO GO - TEAMS LINING UP
The bunch getting ready for the climb, EF Education-Oatly, Picnic PostNL, Visma-Lease a Bike, FDJ-Suez all there towards the front.
13:08
7.3KM TO GO - VOLLERING AT THE FRONT OF THE PELOTON
A small climb to go before the finish as the red jersey positions herself at the front of the bunch, and she's chatting away on the radio. It will be interesting to see how these next few kilometres play out on the climb - and who gets themselves in the right place to contest for the stage victory, could we see some attacks over the top?
13:06
9.7KM TO GO - ATTACKERS CAUGHT
The peloton bring them back - it's all to play (or rather, race) for!
13:03
11.5KM TO GO - SMALL GAP OPENS UP
A slight lead of 6" for Lippert, Vos, and Bredewold now! Will we see the stage winner come from this group? Vos is in search of her second in this year's La Vuelta Femenina.
13:01
12.8KM TO GO - LIPPERT GOES AGAIN
A second attack from Lippert, but Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx - Protime), who had joined the front, and Vos (of course!) stay with her - three brilliant riders putting themselves in contention for a stage win there!
12:59
13.8KM TO GO - ATTACK FROM LIPPERT, BREAKAWAY CLOSED DOWN!
A huge attack from Movistar's Liane Lippert who attacks on a climb, closes down, and goes past the breakaway! Vos and Vollering try and go with her and she doesn't create too much of a gap - but that's a massive shift in momentum as the German rider senses a chance.
Team-mate Marlen Reusser tries to make her way to join them.
12:58
14KM TO GO - SPLIT IN BREAKAWAY
Teutenberg drops back as Roy and Steigenga continue ahead.
12:55
16KM TO GO - SMOOTH DESCENDING FROM EF EDUCATION-OATLY
Babette van der Wolf shows her descending prowess as she tries to bridge the gap to team-mate Roy, with Henderson hot on her heels. Gap now 16".
