AND THAT'S YOUR LOT FOR TODAY
Not bad as time trials go, but I think we can do better tomorrow. It's going to be a hilly one.

JOSH TARLING: IT WAS A LONG DAY FOR 13K
I can't believe it to be honest. I've been trying. I'm so happy. The wait wasn't nice - I don't want to do it again. It was a long day for 13k. Primoz really scared me, it was a stressful day. We did the first part with the climb smooth, nice and hard, and with this last section I made sure to hurt.

JOSH TARLING WINS STAGE 2 OF THE GIRO D'ITALIA!
Primoz Roglic is the new maglia rosa. What a start to this race we're having. Mads Pedersen dug deep, but it was an almighty ask. I tell you what, though, don't rule out the possibility of him taking it back tomorrow.
16:12
IT'S SWUNG AWAY FROM PEDERSEN
If the numbers are to be trusted, it's not going to be enough for him.
16:11
3KM TO GO FOR PEDERSEN
And the clock says he's nine seconds down on Roglic, which would be enough to keep the maglia rosa by a single second. You wouldn't imagine Roglic would mind all that much at this point.
16:07
MADS PEDERSEN IS PUTTING UP A FIGHT
At the time check he's ten seconds down on Primoz Roglic, who is looking like his principal rival for pink. It's looking alright for Josh Tarling.
16:04
WOUT VAN AERT APPEARS TO BE PAYING FOR YESTERDAY
It doesn't look as if he's going to be taking pink today. He's 28 seconds down where the clock stops at the top of the climb. What about Mads Pedersen? He's faring a bit better.
16:03
A REMINDER OF THE TIME AND THE RIDER TO BEAT
It's Josh Tarling's 16'07.
16:02
TOM PIDCOCK STOPS THE CLOCK 43 SECONDS DOWN
37th place, dead level with Giulio Ciccone. It just looks very difficult for a rider of his stature to generate the raw power needed on a course like this.
15:57
THE PINK JERSEY BEGINS HIS DEFENCE
Mads Pedersen, the first Dane to wear it, wearing a leader's jersey for the first time in his career, will be looking to draw upon every joule of power the race lead can generate. If he doesn't win the stage - and he has before in TTs - he needs a 16'18 minimum to keep the jersey.
15:53
AND THEN THERE WERE TWO
Wout van Aert straps up his chin, and wearing the ciclamino skinsuit sets off on his mission. He wants pink today, but he will need at the very least a decent performance to take it. Sean Kelly think it's 'a little bit of an ask.' I'm a bit more optimistic.
15:53
MAX POOLE 16TH PLACE PROVISIONALLY
Just 25 seconds down on Tarling, one quicker than Antonio Tiberi. He's on his way.
15:45
IT'S TOM PIDCOCK TIME
This, I think, is where we'll find out what kind of Giro d'Italia Tom Pidcock will be targeting. He starts the day in 5th place in the general classification. It's probably his weakest of the many disciplines he's so good at. In touch with the likes of Antonio Tiberi, would be a satisfctory result, I suspect.
15:38
CAN MAX POOLE BE A CONTENDER?
This is surely the race where he displaces Roman Bardet in the Picnic PostNL pecking order. The Frenchman is riding his final Grand Tour, of course. A stage win and a top ten finish would be a successful three weeks, you'd say.
15:34
INTO OUR FINAL TEN RIDERS
An honourtable mention for Davide Piganzoli of Team Polti VisitMalta, who is a promising young rider but one who has never won a TT. He probably won't change that today. We're at three minute intervals now.

TARLING HOLDS ON BY A SINGLE SECOND FROM ROGLIC
Sensational ride from Primoz Roglic. Can you see anyone other than Wout van Aert beating him now? I can't.
15:29
ROGLIC LOOKING VERY VERY GOOD
He sets the joint fastest first sector time. The final 5.7km are for the heavyweights, of course, but that should confirm that he's brought form.
