England's Jordan Cox will miss the three-Test series against New Zealand due to a broken thumb.
The uncapped wicketkeeper suffered the injury ahead of the start of day two of England's match against the New Zealand Prime Minister’s XI at Sir John Davies Oval.
A replacement is yet to be announced with the first Test of the series set to get underway on November 28 in Christchurch, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Surrey star Ollie Pope will start at wicketkeeper in place of the injured Cox, who was in turn covering for first-choice wicketkeeper Jamie Smith while he is on paternity leave.
The injury means Jacob Bethell is in line to win his first Test cap.
"I’m gutted for Jordan (Cox)," said England head coach Brendon McCullum.
"He has been shaping up nicely, both with the bat and gloves since we got to New Zealand.
"That’s sport, and unfortunately, these things happen.
"We will get around him and look after him.
"He's resilient and his time will come at some point in the future."
