New Zealand made history by becoming the first touring side to win a Test series in India since 2012 with an historic 113-run victory in Pune. The result means New Zealand take an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series, ending an 18-series unbeaten run for the hosts. Six wickets from spin bowler Mitchell Santner proved to be the difference in a deserved victory for the Black Caps.

India suffered their first Test series defeat on home soil in 12 years as New Zealand secured a 113-run triumph in just their fourth-ever Test match win in India, with the Black Caps' victory marking their maiden Test series victory in India.
This success in Pune makes it a magical few weeks for New Zealand Cricket, with victory in the first Test breaking a 36-year wait since their last victory in India in 1988. This adds to the achievement of the women's T20 side capturing their maiden World Cup victory.
Captain Tom Latham was the star of the pivotal New Zealand second innings, scoring 86 runs. Despite a late collapse, the Kiwis posted 255 to give India a target of 359 for victory.
The hosts started well through Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 77 runs from 66 balls, before his eventual dismissal by Mitchell Santner, who would go on to rip out the top order, including a run out.
There were paltry returns among the main India batters bar Jaiswal, as Rohit Sharma went for eight, Rishabh Pant for a duck and Virat Kohli for 17.
The hosts were desperate for a batter to steady the ship, but it never came to fruition. Washington Sundar reached 21 before his dismissal from Glen Phillips. Sarfafraz Khan went for just nine, while Ravichandran Ashwin became Santner’s sixth victim after scoring just 18.
