After an eight-year absence, Mitchell Starc has become the most expensive signing in IPL history. The Australia fast bowler was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for £2.35m, surpassing the £1.945m that the Hyderabad Sunrisers paid for Pat Cummins on the same day. England's Harry Brook signed for Delhi Capitals £380,000 after he was put on for a base price of £190,000.

Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history after signing for Kolkata Knight Riders for a fee of 24.75 crore Indian rupees (£2.35m).
Australia captain Pat Cummins smashed the record earlier in the auction on Tuesday after signing for the Hyderabad Sunrisers for a fee of 20.5 cr (£1.95m), but that was soon eclipsed by his Australia team-mate.
The purchases of Starc and Cummins beat the record that Punjab Kings paid for England all-rounder Sam Curran - 18.15 cr or £1.85m - in the 2022 auction.
The World Cup-winning captain joins fast bowler Travis Head at the Sunrisers who was signed for just under £650,000.
England's Harry Brook, who made an unbeaten 100 from 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders last season, was signed by Delhi Capitals for £380,000, coming down from the £1.35m he was signed for in the previous auction.
Chris Woakes, who had the same base price as Brook, was signed by Punjab Kings for £400,000.
England all-rounders Tom Curran and David Willey were among the later names to be sold. They were bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants respectively.
Nine England players were already retained for the 2024 season.
Jos Buttler (Rajasthan), Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Jonny Bairstow (all Punjab Kings), plus Reece Topley and Will Jacks (both Bangalore).
Moeen Ali (Chennai), Jason Roy (Kolkata) and Mark Wood (Lucknow Super Giants) have also been kept on.
Australians Mitch Marsh, David Warner, Matthew Wade, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Green and Maxwell were already retained by their franchises before the auction.
West Indies batter Rovman Powell was the first player to be auctioned, joining the Rajasthan Royals.
The 2024 IPL season gets underway in March.
