The 307 has covered no more than 1200km in testing, and is a big risk for the 2004 season, but one which Peugeot are determined to take in order to regain their constructors' title, narrowly snatched by Citroën in 2003.
Peugeot Sport Director Jean-Pierre Nicolas admitted that the move was far from a guarantee of success, saying: "Sometimes it is a bet, but we bet!"
The team also confirmed their line-up for next year, which will see Finns Marcus Grönholm and Timo Rautiainen continue as Peugeot kingpins alongside Freddy Loix and co-driver Sven Smeets, with an option to replace Loix on certain specialist rallies.
