Bryony Page is ‘stronger, fitter and healthier’ ahead of third Olympic bid - ‘I don’t feel my age’

Team GB's star trampoline gymnast Bryony Page will compete in her third Olympics during the 2024 Paris Games, as she looks to win the only medal missing from her Olympic collection - gold. The 33-year-old said she is feeling at her best as she heads into the "fierce" competition. “Age is just a number, I really don’t feel my age. I feel better than I did 10 years ago," Page told Eurosport.

Bryony Page is set to make her third Olympic appearance at the 2024 Paris Games, where she will look to end her wait for a historic trampoline gymnastics gold.
The Team GB athlete, 33, competed in her first Olympics at the 2016 Games in Rio, while she also represented the nation at the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021.
Page claimed silver in Brazil to become the first-ever trampoline gymnast from Great Britain to win a medal at the Olympics.
Injury threatened her Tokyo campaign, but the year’s delay meant she was able to recover in time for the Games where she earned the bronze medal.
She is also the current world champion, having reigned supreme at the World Championships in Birmingham last year.
Despite her previous success, Page said that she is in the best shape of her career as she looks to add a third Olympic accolade to her medal haul.
“I’m feeling all of the emotions, excitement is one of them,” she told Eurosport.
“I’m very nervous, extremely proud to be going to my third Olympics - it hasn’t really sunken in. I know it goes so quickly, so I want to try and take in each moment.
“I feel much stronger, fitter now than I did in my early 20s. You’re trying to push your body to the absolute max and its absolute limit, so it’s understanding where that line is and working with it than against it.
“Age is just a number, I really don’t feel my age. I feel better than I did 10 years ago. I have to keep that in mind, manage the volume of training and be as efficient as possible."
Page knows the competition will be challenging in the French capital, which includes the current Olympic champion Zhu Xueying.
But the Brit is expected to challenge for the gold medal, the only colour missing from her collection.
“Having been an Olympic medallist before, I’d love to bring home a medal for Team GB, but the competition is really fierce, it’s really tough,” Page said.
“At the moment, there are six people who could win gold, let alone medal. It’s a really close, high-level competition, the biggest we've had for a while.
“If I’m able to perform a routine which I’m happy with, then I can be happy with the result.”
The chance to become an Olympic champion and etch her name into the history books once more is on offer.
However, Page admitted that when she was a child, she never really thought about competing in the most prestigious sporting event on the globe, which was not a target for her until later in her career.
“I didn't even think about going to the Olympics when I was younger. I almost didn’t want to go because I was so scared I’d mess up,” she revealed.
“I was like, ‘I can’t go to the Olympics! Imagine how it would feel going in front of that big stage and it doesn’t go well?’
“So I didn’t really think of it as a target until 2010 which was my first proper year competing internationally for Great Britain.”

Not only has Page revelled in Olympic success, but she is also a four-time world champion across the individual, team and all-around team disciplines.
“That’s why we love the sport, you get that thrill, that excitement. It’s challenging, it’s scary," she added.
“It’s like riding a rollercoaster, I absolutely love that feeling. It's essentially like that but you’re in control of what you’re doing, you know what the next turn is going to feel like and you’re trying to get it as smooth as possible.
“When it feels good, that’s what you’re aiming for.”
Page will compete in the trampoline qualifiers on Friday, August 2 in a bid to reach the final which will directly follow the prelims.
