Italian Open: Emma Raducanu through to round of 16, Aryna Sabalenka battles back to beat Sofia Kenin in three sets

British player Emma Raducanu was given a stiff test at the Italian Open on Sunday, but she won the final two sets for the loss of one game to beat Veronika Kudermetova. Aryna Sabalenka was another player who was pushed hard, with the world No. 1 battling back from losing the first set to beat Sofia Kenin. Coco Gauff progressed to the round of 16 with a win over Magda Linette.

Emma Raducanu came back from a set down to beat Veronika Kudermetova 5-7 6-0 6-1 and progress to the round of 16 at the Italian Open.
Raducanu was broken early in the opening set, but she showed her determination to break back and level the match at 3-3.
The British No. 2 was almost broken again during an incredibly competitive eighth game, but she held her nerve to level things up before taking a 5-4 lead.
However, there was another twist as Kudermetova won three consecutive games to take the opening set 7-5.
Raducanu broke her opponent three times in a row as she cruised into a 5-0 lead at the start of the second set, as Kudermetova was forced off the court for a medical timeout.
The world No. 12 returned but eventually lost the second set 6-0.
Raducanu made sure of things in the third set, taking it 6-1 to complete her comeback and progress to the next round.

Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka secured her eighth win on clay in a row after battling back from a set down to beat Sofia Kenin 3-6 6-3 6-3.
The world No. 31 made an excellent start in Rome, winning the opening set 6-3.
However, Sabalenka fought back to level the match in the second, taking a 4-1 lead before going on to win the set 6-3.
The world No. 1 completed her comeback in style in the third set to wrap up the victory.
Coco Gauff progressed to the round of 16 with a 7-5 6-3 win against Magda Linette.
Linette held her own during a back-and-forth opening set, but Gauff eventually took it 7-5.
The second set was far more one-sided as the world No. 3 progressed to the next round.

Marta Kostyuk defeated world No. 26 Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-2 to book her place in the round of 16.
Kostyuk edged a closely fought first set 6-4 despite a determined performance from her Canadian rival.
The world No. 27 followed that up with a strong showing in the second, taking the set 6-2 to seal the victory.
Bianca Andreescu is through to the round of 16 after a 6-2 6-4 triumph over Elena Rybakina.
