Iga Swiatek beat Caroline Garcia 6-2 6-0 in her first match at Indian Wells. Swiatek is aiming to become the first woman to lift the trophy three times at the WTA 1000 tournament. She spoke afterwards about how she is also hoping to do some cooking off the court over the next fortnight. British No. 1 Katie Boulter beat Irina-Camelia Begu in three sets in her first match since the Australian Open.

After dishing out a bagel in her Indian Wells opening match, Iga Swiatek revealed how she is also hoping to cook up a storm off the court during her time at the tournament.
World No. 2 Swiatek breezed past Caroline Garcia 6-2 6-0 in a strong start to the defence of her Indian Wells title.
Swiatek is on a seven-match win streak at the WTA 1000 event and, following victories in 2022 and 2024, is aiming to become the first woman to lift the trophy three times.
She also, though, has other goals on her mind this week.
"I'm reading this book about cooking, so I tried some new things on this trip since we have a house and we have a huge kitchen and it's very comfortable," she said after beating Garcia.
"Tomorrow I'm going to try to do a baked oatmeal with apple. That's going to be the first [time] I'm going to do this, so hopefully it's going to be fine.Â
"Also, I found this recipe for pasta with lemon sauce and tuna. I want to buy tuna, but I've never bought tuna, so that's why I'm kind of thinking where should I go? But like a raw tuna. It has to be good."

Swiatek is yet to win a title this season, losing in the semi-finals of the Australian Open and Qatar Open, and quarters in Dubai.
At the Australian Open she had a match point before losing to eventual champion Madison Keys in a tight match.
Swiatek says the defeat was "pretty heartbreaking" but she will "stay humble" in her pursuit of success.
"I had never lost a match from having a match point, but Madi totally deserved it; she went for her shots and was more brave in the important points," she told Tennis Channel.
"I thought about it for a couple of days for sure and it was hard to accept it, but I also saw how tight the final was. The level was super high at the tournament and I was happy I could play such a solid way until the semi-finals.
"I just want to stay humble and also remember that other girls are working pretty hard and changing their games. For sure Madi deserved to win the whole tournament; she played amazing."
Swiatek next faces Dayana Yastremska, who knocked out No. 32 seed Ons Jabeur 6-3 6-1.
Boulter wins on return to action
British No. 1 Katie Boulter came from a set down to beat Irina-Camelia Begu to reach the third round at Indian Wells.Â
Playing for the first time since the Australian Open, Boulter came through 6(2)-7 6-3 6-0 to set up a meeting with seventh seed Elena Rybakina.
Boulter has been out of action over the last month because of a foot injury.Â
"Two weeks ago I was in a boot, I was not really playing tennis at all," she told the BBC.
"I was trying to keep my eye in by sitting on a box and hitting some volleys but that's the extent of where we've been out on the tennis court.Â
"To get through today, it really shows how much I have fought to get through these last few weeks and how much I have been pushing myself to get back out here. It feels worth it now that at least I got one win under the belt. We'll see how the foot reacts and go from there."
Elsewhere, fourth seed Jessica Pegula won 6-4 6-2 against Madga Linette.
