Kirilenko stuns champion

Unseeded Maria Kirilenko of Russia upset defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3 6-2 to reach the final of the Indian Open in Hyderabad. The world number 148 will take on Australian Nicole Pratt on Saturday.

The 17-year-old was playing in her first tour semi-final and will next face fourth seed Pratt, in the championship match.

The 30-year-old, playing her first semi-final since Birmingham in 2002, defeated second seed Marion Bartoli of France 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-2.
