Schalken could quit

Eighth seed Sjeng Schalken may be forced to pull out of Wimbledon before his quarter-final tie against Roger Federer on Wednesday because of a painful foot. The 26-year-old Dutchman was unable to practise on Tuesday and was undergoing a scan to check no bone was broken, the player told Dutch reporters.

Schalken, who reached the quarter-finals here last year before making the semi-finals at the U.S. Open, has suffered from a foot injury for many years and needs frequent treatment.
He told the reporters he would not pull out of the match unless doctors ordered him to and would make his decision only at the last moment.
Fourth seed Federer needed treatment on his back during Monday's fourth-round win over Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.
