‘Brutal and ruthless’ Iga Swiatek achieves ‘tennis immortality’ after win over Amanda Anisimova in Wimbledon final, say Nick Kyrgios and Laura Robson

Iga Swiatek came out on top in one of the most dominant Wimbledon finals of all time, producing two bagels to outclass Amanda Anisimova in the SW19 final. The Pole claimed her sixth Grand Slam title and her first at Wimbledon in under an hour on Centre Court, as Anisimova had no answer to Swiatek's clinical display. Nick Kyrgios believes Swiatek has achieved "tennis immortality".

Nick Kyrgios and Laura Robson hailed Iga Swiatek for clinically dispatching Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon final.
Swiatek claimed her sixth Grand Slam title in a mere 57 minutes after a crushing 6-0 6-0 win over the American, ending more than a 12-month wait for a title in emphatic style.
The Pole also secured a long-awaited first triumph on grass, and after witnessing Swiatek celebrate with the trophy on the iconic Centre Court balcony, Kyrgios explained there would be no better feeling in tennis.
Speaking on the Wimbledon Watchalong on TNT Sports and discovery+, Kyrgios said: "That's the moment there when you realise you've made it to the pinnacle of the sport.
"You win Wimbledon, she's a multiple Grand Slam champion, achieved tennis immortality, is one of the greats of this generation and still in the midst of her prime.
"We are witnessing one of the greats of the women's side and today was a dominant performance."
Robson echoed Kyrgios’ sentiments and feels that Swiatek used her superior experience at the highest level to her full advantage.
"I think it was 57 minutes in total today, so we couldn't quite get it to the hour mark," she added.
"She was world-class today, absolutely brutal and ruthless from the very first point to the last. She was using her topspin forehand incredibly well. She did everything right and her opponent was kind of the opposite.
"She knew she had to use her experience today, she knew how to manage the occasion.
"You have to give her so much credit after the 12 months she's had with everyone writing her off, especially after the clay-court season, as she goes and wins Wimbledon."

Kyrgios also believes that the hugely dominant nature of Swiatek’s victory lays down a marker to the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff, and is expecting her to continue that momentum into the US Open.
The Australian said: "What does this do for her confidence all year around? Maybe she's got that confidence to dominate the top of the women's game.
"Right now, it's Coco [Gauff], [Aryna], Sabalenka and Iga. Now I put her right at the top for the US Open."
