Wimbledon 2017: Novak Djokovic gets easy first-round ride as Martin Klizan retires in second set

Novak Djokovic was only made to win eight games after his opponent Martin Klizan sustained an injury in the second set of their Wimbledon opener.

Djokovic was only on court for 40 minutes before Klizan was forced to withdraw with the calf injury he suffered two months ago.

The second seed, who broke serve comfortably in both sets and looked on course for a comprehensive victory, did not have to work hard to ensure his progress.

Djokovic will next face Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic in the second round after he beat Ernesto Escobedo of the USA in four sets.
