Radwanska was too good in every department as she wrapped up the win in less than an hour to book a place in the fourth round against qualifier Camila Giorgi, after the Italian dispatched Russian 20th seed Nadia Petrova 6-3 7-6(6).
Watson was all-smiles walking out on to Centre Court and made a promising start to the match, the 20-year-old producing a couple of forehand winners which suggested she might be able to stick with her Polish opponent.
But Radwanska was quick to stamp her authority on the match, breaking in the second, fourth, and sixth games to wrap up the opening set in just 24 minutes.
The second set began in much the same manner as a double fault from Watson saw her concede her serve for a fourth consecutive time.
But the Brit refused to give up, earning herself an immediate break back point with a backhand passing shot that Radwanska could only return into the net.
Although the Pole did recover in time to hold and consolidate the break, the success was enough to spur Watson on as she held for the first time in the fourth game of the second set, a backhand winner down the line sandwiched by three great serves that Radwanska could do nothing with.
Watson held again two games later to double her tally but Radwanska had already done enough, holding again and forcing the Brit to serve to stay in it.
The 20-year-old did save a first match point with an angled backhand drop shot but she could do nothing about the second, going for too much with an inside out forehand and hitting wide to end her Wimbledon campaign.
"She's number three in the world for a reason. She didn't miss," Watson told reporters. "I think I tried to do too much and then I tried to do too little. I just wasn't getting it right today."
