Wimbledon 2025 Day 7 recap - Carlos Alcaraz battles past Andrey Rublev, Cameron Norrie survives epic test as Aryna Sabalenka advances
Day 7 at Wimbledon 2025 saw reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz beat Andrey Rublev, while last-man-standing Brit Cameron Norrie continued his journey. In the women's draw, the world's top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka beat Elise Mertens on Centre Court to advance. Brit Sonay Kartal was defeated by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, while Taylor Fritz and Karen Khachanov will meet in the quarter-finals.

Nicolas Jarry openly vented his frustrations over perceived gamesmanship from his opponent and home favourite Cameron Norrie during their fourth-round Wimbledon clash. Jarry found himself on the brink of an exit from SW19 when Norrie took a two-set lead, but the Chilean powerhouse took issue with the British No. 3, over what he felt was excessive ball-bouncing at some crunch moments in the match.

Cameron Norrie has taken one step closer to matching his run to the 2022 Wimbledon semi-finals, as he reached the final eight with a marathon victory over Nicolas Jarry. Norrie treated Court One to a display of complete dominance on serve, not giving up a single break, though the big-serving Chilean qualifier threatened an almighty comeback. Andrey Rublev or Carlos Alcaraz await Norrie.

"Honestly, I don't know how I did that. Credit to Nico. He did an unbelievable job. He played better than me in both tie-breaks [that he lost]. I had to keep fighting. I forgot to get my coach a birthday present today, so I had to get the win for him!"
On being the last Brit standing, Norrie added: "Amazing. At the beginning of this year, I struggled with confidence. I want to enjoy my tennis more and I'm doing that.
"It is a bonus to win, but enjoying it is what matters. I am so happy to be in another quarter-final in the best tournament in the world."
