Mats Wilander insists that Amanda Anisimova has what it takes to defeat Iga Swiatek at the US Open, despite the Pole arguably being the best player in the world right now. Anisimova and Swiatek went head-to-head in the final of Wimbledon earlier this year – a double-bagel win for the Pole – and are now set to collide at another Grand Slam. This is the furthest Anisimova has been in New York.

TNT Sports expert Mats Wilander believes Amanda Anisimova has the arsenal to defeat Iga Swiatek in their 2025 US Open quarter-final.
Anisimova and Swiatek will go head-to-head at Flushing Meadows on Wednesday in a rematch of their one-sided Wimbledon final from earlier this year.
World No. 2 Swiatek stormed to an emphatic 6-0 6-0 victory in London in July to claim the sixth Grand Slam title of her career.
Wilander believes her American rival stands a much better chance this time around despite the Polish star’s dominant display in SW19.
"Anisimova has the weapons," said the seven-time Grand Slam champion. "She plays the exact tennis that you have to be able to play to beat Iga Swiatek.
"Hard and low into Iga Swiatek’s forehand is a recipe for victory, and I think Anisimova might have that in her. It will be a close match."
Anisimova booked her place in the semi-finals of the last Grand Slam of the season by beating Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-0 6-3 in the round of 16.

Swiatek moved a step closer to a second US Open crown by beating Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3 6-1 at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Their Wimbledon clash came after an intense three-set thriller between Anisimova and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals.
Wilander believes that Anisimova will be feeling a lot fresher this time around, but that Swiatek is potentially the best player in the world right now.
"In the match between Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova, the revenge from the Wimbledon final for Anisimova," he added.
"This one is not going to be as straightforward for Iga Swiatek - Anisimova is playing great. She has got more confidence than she had at Wimbledon.
"At Wimbledon, she ran into being really, really tired. She did be Aryna Sabalenka, so she deserved to be there, but here Anisimova is fresh.
"Iga Swiatek is playing great tennis; she’s probably the best player in the world right now."
Swiatek’s previous US Open triumph came in 2022, when she defeated Ons Jabeur in the final. The 24-year-old is on a fine run of form, having defeated Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in straight sets in the final of the 2025 Cincinnati Masters last month.

This is the furthest Anisimova has ever gone at the US Open, with her previous best performance coming in 2020, when she was eliminated in the third round.
Her appearance in the final of Wimbledon earlier this year was the first time she went the distance in the final of a Grand Slam, and now she is hoping to end an impressive 2025 on a high.
Prior to Wimbledon 2025, her best display at one of tennis' four most famous tournaments came at the 2019 French Open, when she made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated by eventual winner Ashleigh Barty.
