Djokovic claimed his second Grand Slam in succession and 14th in his illustrious career with a 6-3 7-6 6-3 victory at Flushing Meadows.
The 31-year-old, who triumphed in New York in 2011 and 2015, sealed his third title at the final Slam of the year with a hard-earned straight-sets win over the Argentine.

Del Potro, who was very emotional at the end of the final - his first since he won at Flushing Meadows back in 2009 - gushed over his opponent in a moving speech.
In turn, Djokovic spoke of his admiration for the Argentine, who has endured a raft of injuries since his sole Grand Slam title in New York.
Very classy from both players.
