US Open 2025 quarter-final result - Felix Auger-Aliassime secures four-set victory over Alex de Minaur at Arthur Ashe Stadium

Felix Auger-Aliassime is into the US Open semi-finals for the second time!

The Canadian seals the breaker 7-4 to come from behind and take a four-set battle in four hours and 10 minutes.

The 25th seed will now meet Sinner or Musetti in the last four.

It’s a double fault apiece to kick things off which perhaps shows the nerves at both ends of the court.

De Minaur zaps a scorching crosscourt forehand to seize control but coughs up the mini break when FAA sizzles another inside-in strike down the line.

The 25th seed then hangs tough in his right corner to pick off Demon's crosscourt approach and lash a forehand down the line.

The Aussie blinks again when he nets a forehand and Felix leads at the change of ends.

Felix back pedals and soars into the air to boom down a sensational crosscourt smash.

It’s on a pressure point at 15-15 and paves the way to a strong hold that takes us into the second breaker of the match.

De Minaur guarantees himself the minimum of a breaker as he shrugs off a double fault to unload on the plus-one forehand.

Auger-Aliassime leans all over his serve, landing a big delivery and a 22nd ace to move 40-15 to the good with the help of a wild forehand miss from the Aussie.  

Demon unloads on a fizzing return to reduce the arrears but drills a backhand way long to allow the Canadian to consolidate.

Auger-Aliassime turns on the after-burners on the return and suddenly powers his way to three break points courtesy of a brilliant lob that tees up a crisp forehand down the line.

The Canadian guns another inside-in piledriver off that wing and Alex can only shank high into the sky.

It’s a break to love and a lifeline for the 25th seed.

Auger-Aliassime takes a forehand down the line early and then ends a game to 15 with an ace down the T.

De Minaur will now look to serve out the set and take us into a decider.

It feels like this is Demon’s set to lose now. The body language, the loud motivational shouts between points and the wiry energy is all coming from his side of the court.

Felix is very quiet and offers little on the return as the Aussie moves to within a game of taking this quarter-final clash to a fifth.

FAA stays in contention with a hold to 15.

De Minaur makes another surge to the net and reaches high to his left to angle away a backhand volley and consolidate to love with aplomb.

We could well be heading towards a fifth set here.

The momentum shifts – and Demon is back in business!

The Aussie is re-energised now and injects serious pace into the Canadian’s forehand wing, luring a succession of surprising errors to snare the maiden break of this fourth set.

Demon puts together his best point in quite some time with some crisp hitting followed by an attacking move to the net to despatch a well-controlled stun volley.

There’s more of a spring in his step now and he quickly polishes off the hold for the loss of one point to keep his nose in front early in the fourth.

 The first serve, big forehand combo is working quite nicely for FAA at the moment and he quickly moves onto the board with a routine game to 15.

‘Come on!’ barks Alex as he ends a solid hold to 15 with a big first serve.

The Aussie has struggled to find the first delivery so often today and currently sits at just 40 percent, which just isn’t going to get it done, so he needs a vast improvement from here.

Auger-Aliassime gets the job done this time around!

The Canadian lands his 18th ace to tee up two set points and seals the deal on the second with his 19th ace.

De Minaur races into a 30-0 lead but a double fault stops a rot that sees him cough up another break point with a loose forehand long.

A clutch serve gets him to deuce but another forehand miscue gives Felix a second chance.

This time the Canadian stays in a nervy rally and Demon chokes with a forehand long.

FAA will now serve for the set for a second time.

It’s way too nervy from Felix - and he pays the price.

The Canadian struggles to find the first serve but seems to steady the ship with a super block volley at the net for 30-30.

A double fault opens the door for Demon and the Canadian breaks himself with a forehand just long.  

De Minaur gives himself one last chance at the break back as he executes a couple of smart volleys to hold to 30.

Auger-Aliassime will now serve for a two-sets-to-one lead.

Too good.

FAA rampages through a love hold to stay on course.

De Minaur avoids being pushed to deuce from a commanding position as he bunts a beauty of a backhand down the line for a clean winner that pinches a game to 30.
