Jannik Sinner remains on course to complete a hardcourt Grand Slam double after powering his way past a gutsy Jack Draper in straight sets to reach the US Open final.
According to Opta, with the win, the 21-year-old Sinner "is now the youngest player to reach the Men’s Singles final at both the Australian and US Open in a calendar year, surpassing Roger Federer" who was 23 when he achieved the feat in 2004.
He will face Taylor Fritz in Sunday's final after the world No. 12 overcame Frances Tiafoe in the all-American semi-final.
Draper bows out with plenty of plaudits after clearly struggling with sickness during the match, as his epic run to the last four came after not surrendering a set in his run to a first Grand Slam semi-final.
He will move up to a career-high ranking of world No. 20, but this proved to be one step too far.
After going toe-to-toe with Sinner in the early exchanges of the first set, the British No. 1 was broken for the first time at 4-3 down as his crosscourt forehand flew wide.

A sublime backhand return gave him hope of a comeback, but Draper lost his radar on the forehand and Sinner was within touching distance of a two-set lead at 5-1 ahead in the tie-break.
