CONFIRMED: THE 2025 FRENCH OPEN FINAL WILL PIT COCO GAUFF AGAINST ARYNA SABALENKA
Coco Gauff will face Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s showdown for the Roland-Garros title after ruthlessly ending the fairytale run of French wildcard Lois Boisson.
The American second seed secured her berth in the second Paris final of her career with a convincing 6-1 6-2 victory in one hour and nine minutes.
Speaking on court following her triumph, Gauff said: "It’s always the plan to try to start strong, I knew it was important today.
"Lois is an incredible player. To have the tournament that she had, she definitely proved that she’s one of the best players in the world, especially on clay.
"Hopefully we have plenty more battles here. I know [the crowd] wanted her to win, but I wanted to win too.
"Congrats to her for an incredible tournament. Today happened to be my day.
"This is my first time playing a French player in this tournament. I was mentally prepared before the match that it was going to be 99% for her.
I tried to block it out and when [the crowd] were chanting her name, I was saying my name to psych myself out.
"You have to do that. I know [the crowd] would usually root for me if I wasn’t playing a French player."
The world number 361 Boisson had caught the imagination in her homeland with her stunning surge to the last four that saw her down a host of seeds including Elise Mertens, Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva.
However, the 22-year-old Dijon-native looked like her exploits had finally caught up with her as Gauff stormed into a 4-0 lead with rock-solid tennis.
The second seed was barely troubled as she broke for a third time to clinch the opener in just 35 minutes.
Gauff, 21, broke serve three more times in the second stanza as a visibly exhausted Boisson leaked errors, and the former US Open champion ended up romping into a mouthwatering showdown between the top two players on the WTA Tour.
On facing the world number one in the final, Gauff added: "I’m playing Aryna, and it’s going to be a tough match. I’m really proud of myself and there’s still a lot more work to do.
"I’m going to enjoy this one and then start my preparation for the final."

GAME, SET AND MATCH! – BOISSON 1-6 2-6 GAUFF
Lois treats the disappointed home crowd to one more bit of magic when she conjures up a devilish crosscourt dropper.
It’s been a feature of her charge to the last four but her variety and guile has been conspicuous by its absence today.
The errors flow from there and another backhand flies way off the island to hand over two match points.
Coco converts on the first when Lois fires a forehand long and the American is into a second RG final!

This time there’s no escape route for the American as she flashes just long again to let the wildcard back into it.

BOISSON 0-4 GAUFF
It’s been flawless from Gauff – until now.

The world 361 comes again with a ripper of a backhand crosscourt winner but then lobs long with Coco waiting at the net.
Gauff takes charge with a deep, penetrating forehand to Boisson’s right wing, but the French hopeful conjures up a sublime drop shot that clips the tape and dips over.
The Dijon-native can’t press any further, however, as two misfires off the backhand allow Coco to consolidate via a long and winding road.

BREAK! – BOISSON 0-3 GAUFF
It’s fair to say you can hear a pin drop on Chatrier right now and it’s music to Coco’s ears.
The American continues to play pristine tennis, hitting clean, deep groundstrokes that Lois struggles to contend with.
The French underdog has yet to get going and can’t engineer anything here as a double fault continues her rotten start before forehands either side from Gauff do the damage for the double break.

BOISSON 0-2 GAUFF
This is such a strong start and a big statement from Coco.
The No.2 seed is standing tall against this crowd as she comfortably consolidates to 15 to keep the pro-French supporters sitting in subdued silence.

She’s not wrong.
Gauff edges a delicious all-court rally with a stunning backhand lob under pressure.
Evert is gushing again when Boisson slides low to her left to pull off an impish dropper off Gauff’s short-angled backhand.
The American presses further with a leaping, deep forehand to earn an instant break point but then lashes a backhand just long.
Boisson offers up another with a tame, low backhand into the net and then crumbles with a poor slice that floats the same way.
